Thank you, I'm very excited for this release!

Do you have any top secret intel on when the movie itself is going to be released?

Downloading now! Thanks for the heads up!

Also just watched my copy of Smile and loved it! Loved the Dern interview! Dude’s memory is sharp! Wish they asked him more questions.

Just listened the other night. Great episode as usual. Jonathan's excellent taste in film makes me even more excited for the future of FCE. Excited to check out the many of the movies they mentioned especially the ones with Glynnis and Robby from Jeremy. Actually had bought one of the movies they mentioned just a few days before so that was cool that it's on the way to me already.

Watching Smile later!

If you can't tell, Dern answers some questions, but this usually involves many detours into other topics and stories. And, sometimes you get something completely different from what you asked.

What you're seeing is basically all the SMILE-specific memories he shared with us, spread out over a couple hours, edited together somewhat coherently. There's another 90-100 minutes of outtakes.

I’d probably buy a disc of the outtakes.

What an entertaining film. Budding California teens in the running for the Young American Miss title, a junior peeping Tom, a very young Melanie Griffith, a small American town, double standards, sexism, pop music . . . .

Excellent PQ. There is a tiny amount of speckling very early in the film, but it resolves soon after. The color palette is rich, detail is razor sharp, dimensionality is remarkable, and there is a healthy layer of film grain present throughout. I was particularly struck by how lifelike the girls' lustrous hair appeared in the film, the individual strands bearing an almost tactile quality.

Outstanding AQ. Dialogue is crisp and natural. The music has presence, and the separation of the individual musical instruments—from vocals to wind instruments to piano—blew me away. Honestly, I haven't come across this level of acoustic clarity, especially in the midrange and upper registers, in a film of this vintage. Amazing.

Nice artwork on the slipcover, and I'm especially partial to the rear side of things here. There's also a booklet with an engaging essay about the film, sporting a lovely front cover. This title lives up to its FCE moniker, and I surely look forward to more gems from this label.

Many thanks for the detailed and positive feedback. This film has a challenging color and lighting palette to do justice to on Blu-ray. When we saw the artwork of the winner from behind it proved impossible to resist putting it on the back side of the slip. Glad you like it.

The PCP episode was a fantastic listen, really enjoyed the discussion and enthusiasm for these films. Jon, I had no idea you were putting out Radio On on the label, that's excellent news! I've pre-ordered the BFI release but will happily double dip to pick up the FCE edition when that comes out.

Is Rancho still slated to follow Walking the Edge on the release schedule?

Anyone who hasn't done so needs to pick up Smile. Fun from start to finish, a memorable biting satire that delivers an effective one-two. What's more, it's great for testing the imaging and soundstage of your front speakers, which will definitely get a good workout.
