Yeah similar here. With less time I tend to focus more on the cream of the crop stuff I enjoy most. With gaming that’s AAA games, with movies blockbusters like Star Wars and Marvel movies. I’m just less willing to give time to indies, documentaries etc that I enjoy less than I was when I had more time.

I've learned to stop buying indies for the most part. I used to be pretty bad about picking them up when on sale for PS4. "Oh look, it's only $5" was usually my mindset. And while I did quite enjoy some of them, I never replay them. I prefer to stick to games that I will want to replay these days, unless it is physical of course because that can always be traded in. I don't rule it out entirely of course, as there are a few I am still interested in but they would need to go on a pretty good sale for me to bite.
Games like Zelda, Horizon, Uncharted, etc. I can replay over and over and not tire as long as there is a reasonable amount of time in between replays. Pokemon I could finish and start up again right away ![]() |

Yeah I mostly stick with physical games these days as I just don’t care about replaying. Better to save 40% with Best Buy GCU and sell (not trade in as the values suck) after beating.
I go digital for stuff I’ll play longterm like Splatoon, Monster Hunter, Fightiing games etc., or when something is cheap enough I don’t care about not having resell value (PSN sales, Steam Sales, Humble Bundles etc.). |

I think I’m in the same boat as many others, I’ve bought Mario Odyssey and Breathe of the Wild but now I’m wondering what next? I’ve considered Mario Kart a few times but I hate racing in Mario Odyssey so I doubt I’d enjoy a racing game. Splatoon seems to be the other big one but I mostly play alone offline so it doesn’t seem like a good fit. I nearly pulled the trigger on Bayonetta 1/2 but after watching gameplay videos it looks like a mix of cutscenes, button mashing and constant swarms of attacks. I’ve also come close to picking up Golf Story but I’m not a RPG fan.

But yeah, it's nothing like those shitty races in Odyssey so I wouldn't use that as any kind of gauge at all. Buy it if you like racers and casual party games--it's a mix of those two things. |

I saw that earlier. I wish they’d swap the dpad and analog stick position. My hand cramps trying to use the buttons currently in portable mode it’s just awkward holding the console with my thumb that low. It also only works when attached (no wireless, so can’t use on the joycon grip etc.).
Oh well, I don’t play that many 2D games on Switch anyway so I probably wouldn’t buy it even if those issues didn’t exist. |

The sequel to one of my favorite games is coming to the Switch. Pixeljunk Monsters releases in May.

Best Buy Canada is shutting down their rewards program in April. Doesn't affect most people here but for Canadians who don't have much options for games, it stings a little.
EB Games doesn't have much of a rewards program. Considered Amazon Prime but for 10% off games, it's not worth it as I don't expect to buy enough games plus the 10% off doesn't even appear to be on all pre-orders (e.g. Ys VIII isn't eligible). I even looked at Amazon Prime USA but $99 USD a year plus the shipping/import fees, don't make it worth it. |

^ I’m surprised the Canadian Amazon is only 10% off, it’s 20% here in the USA. But like you said, it’s only on pre-orders (and not all of them). That’s why the Best Buy GCU is better, 20% whenever you buy it, even a year later. When games go on sale for $19.99, I can get them for $15.99 via GCU.

Dragon Quest coming to PC and PS4 Sept 4th. Switch version still has a "long way to go."
NA and EU not getting it on 3DS. Damned shame. The 3DS is pretty much a DQ machine for me and I was really looking forward to it. Quote:
