Tar Wars? The Anti-Smoking film?

I've been checking once or twice a week as well.

It's fixed now. I'm usually very good at spelling and punctuation. Still, the Star Wars ratings should come up pretty soon, maybe with Extended Classification Information.

If it's like the German ratings everything will be hidden in 'Collections' so we'll have some surprises (I hope).

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Unless Lucasfilm decided they wanted to do a new complete restoration and start again then those 2004 masters are the only option.

There's been a bit of detective work in the US thread working out whether the BD will be sourced from those masters and it's a pretty high probability that they are. Whether they've been altered in any way is up for debate as we don't have any evidence to prove anything at the moment (and opinions with Star Wars are usually polar opposites). So I'd wait and see (with fingers crossed).
Thanks for the responses.

I know it sounds funny, but it feels like we are being cheated a bit. Lucas is sitting on great big wads of cash, and more will come rolling in when this set gets released, so it puzzles my why he hasn't (apparently) given eps 4,5 & 6 new 4/8K scans. These are well loved movies that deserve proper treatment in a format that is a movie fans dream.
The complete eps in the upcoming Pursuaders set have been given new scans, and i'm sure Network DVD don't have as much cash as Lucas. I know this is a strange comparison, but as i said, we are about to for out a bit of cash for the SW set and i'd like to know we aren't being shafted.

Lucas is like any other business man, he has money set aside for certain projects, but other projects come first (i.e. the clone wars tv show, Red Tails, 3D converision of the Phantom Menace, constant influx of cash to ILM to pioneer new technology in audio/video, and lets not forget the video game empire he has going on...). The Phantom Menace clearly got a new transfer because it is first up for 3D.

So, if the Phantom Menace is a hit in 3D (which it probably will be), then the conversion for ATOC starts. That is where things probably get a bit fuzzy because he said if all the films do well, then he will continue to put them all out in 3D, and we as fans still need to 'show up' for ATOC. Once we get past that little hurddle he will probably start new transfers into 4K for the OT so that he has a fresh master for 3D conversion. Which would be the new/final transfer used for all home video formats.

That is just my guess as to WHY he hasn't done anything new with them in regards to a new scan.

I think I'm going to cancel my pre-order, too expensive at the moment, especially with so many other great Blus coming out around the same time! I think I'll just wait for a price drop!

Do we genuinely think it will drop to under Ł40 by around xmas? I have it on pre-order for about Ł54 at Sainsbury's.

Though it is 6 films, that I really want, lol.

I mean, it's bound to drop eventually right? I'm surprised the set is being released in September in the first place, surely a November/December release to cash in more on Christmas would have been more ideal?

With the September release they can have two lots of people buying the set, the day one set which includes most of the people here and the Christmas gift set crowd who'll be buying the set for loved ones with PS3's and BD players. I'd imagine this release will be massive (although we don't need a crystal ball to guess that). It's win-win for Lucasfilm.

I understand that, but with so many other great titles being released, even closer to Christmas, Jurassic Park for one, it might not turn out as expected. However, I'm sure this set will shift many copies!

If you look back over the years they have always released product in September. I can remember VHS, DVD & Xbox games coming out in September.

Yes you're right the 2004 boxset was September with I think what must have been a re-issue of The Phantom Menace and the LE's of the original trilogy. Most of the other releases have been in the last few months of the year as well. Season three of The Clone Wars is out at the end of October.

Sounds like an awesome event. Hope somebody's gonna ask the ILM people what's been done for the release. We'll be able to see what we're getting in terms of the transfers.
