Amazon has 'Used - Very Good' product through Amazon warehouse deals for $47.70.
I have one on order that should ship 9 April. > Now that I read the condition description again, I'll think about whether to proceed or cancel. > At a half price sale this should be $50 for a new copy. Last edited by ArnoldLayne56; 04-04-2017 at 02:29 PM. |

It's a funny thing about a Criterion thread as opposed to threads for other releases. If this had been for anything other than a Criterion box, we'd have had endless moaning after the release date about what they got wrong. But when something like this is released, the relative silence really speaks volumes. It's what we wanted, and the presentations are awesome. Fans happy. No further discussion needed. lol

There was plenty that people complained about for this release: the cover art (which was hated on for weeks when the images were released), the fact that one digipack is larger than the others, the black blobs on one scene in the background in Before Sunset that were also apparent on the DVD but look like some sort of computer glitch, lack of commentaries on the first 2 films, etc etc. |

To be fair, I dont feel like the 1st movie PQ is particularly good. It even felt like a pre-existing master.
This being written, I strongly disagree about the generalisation over people "complaining just for complaining". Many times, the complaints are legitimate. Then, it's just a question of intensity and priority. I've seen people ranting over and over about some packaging being this or that, or about how it was supposed to come with a slipcover but didnt. I couldnt care less about these things, but are their complaints illegitimate ? Well, if the packaging is flimsy or if a slip was announced but not delivered, these are potential concerns, yes. Same go for compression issues, re using old masters, incorrect framing, debatable color timing, useless digital filtering, etc etc. If more people would be legitimately complaining about issues, actually, many of them might have disappeared since a long time. But oh no, complaining is for the egomaniacs. Last edited by tenia; 04-30-2017 at 03:36 PM. |

To clarify, I guess what I mean is, once we all had this in hand, it wasn't weeks of splitting hairs over every possible thing that's not perfect as it is with most releases.
I'd strongly disagree about any of the film's PQ not being good. Comparing any of them to the DVD versions ensures that I'll never watch them any other way. |

Based on what though? It's a new scan and the compression is decent. Sure it's not a 4K scan but really Sunrise has always looked the shoddiest PQ wise.

Detail and definition could have been better with a 4K scan from the negative I guess (as opposed to a 2k scan of the IP) but this has always been not a great looking film (in the technical sense).

[Show spoiler] There was white grain swirling around the far left and white sides of that whole scene. The only other Blu-ray I have seen that has this kind of grain during night scenes is The Pit from Kino.Did anyone else notice this issue? Or is there something wrong with my disc and/or setup? I am playing the disc on an X Box One S connected to a 2016 55" LG 4K OLED. EDIT - Here is a link to the DVDBeaver review where they have a screen shot of the scene where I saw the white grain / noise. Since the noise isn't present on the screen shot I assume there must be something wrong with my system. Can anybody guess a likely cause and/or offer a possible solution? http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film6/blu-r...se_blu-ray.htm Last edited by PrestonXI; 05-21-2017 at 04:00 PM. |

Plus an extra 10% if you're a member. Any lower than that depends on whether they accept any coupons this time around, which is doubtful based on what they did last year. |
