More shimmering in episode 4 season 1 from 8 minutes on during a whole section of the episode.

I also noticed a brief shimmer at 24 - 27 minutes into the first episode. So far, no other flaws.
I should note this is for the U.S. release.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! just got mine in. freaking warner went the Paramount route and used those STUPID overlapping disc trays that paramount used to use for complete series DVDS.

this type of packaging drives me BATTY. for a legendary set like this to come out they should have gone the Smallville way and used individual Viva Elite 4-5 disc cases for each season. There is ZERO excuse for stack packs and overlapping disc trays

I lucked out and not a single disc was loose and just flopping around like I usually do with this style of packaging, but still.... and since this is a DVD height packaging set, I can't just print my own season covers and put them on viva cases and insert back in the box...

Not buying the series set only guarantees that they won’t release the movies.

In one of the other Babylon threads a fine user is creating blu ray covers based on the original dvd sets, looks great!

Has finally appeared on Amazon Australia so have ordered it for Christmas.. although there's a warning about it being Region 1.. however hopefully they just slapped that there because they didn't check if it was region free. If not then one of my players can do other regions so not end of world.

Well, if they did a real review that was based on actually watching everything, they would have to watch all 5 seasons. And since it hasen't been released long ago, I don't think that's to be expected..

True but usually with most of these sets they sample an episode from each disc, some of the special features, etc. then post the review.

Also I wouldn’t be surprised if the official reviewers tend to wait to read fan reviews in the forums first before they post their own reviews

It’s Warner, it’s region free, calling it Region 1 wouldn’t even make sense as that’s a DVD term lol

So - I juts started watching this on Tubi for something to try out. Its not bad, Im intrigued. I assume its worth watching all five seasons? Im a sci-fi fan too, not sure how I never gave this show a try.

Season 1 can seem quite hit and miss (on subsequent viewings you'll realize that there's much more going on than is apparent when you're watching it for the first time). Suffice to say though, if you enjoy the first year then you'll likely love the rest of the series as it only gets better from there. If you decide that you're not sure after season 1 then watch season 2, it's much better.

Seasons 2-4 are god-tier.

Season 5 starts off slow for the first half of the year but the second half is pretty strong.

That’s an interesting approach. When I used to write for DVDivas, I never considered it or that others might do it myself. I wouldn’t but I can see why folks might do that to spot problems.

Yes. While the writing in season one can be spotty, in retrospect you’ll realize the seeds for the next four seasons are being planted.

It’s only at 106 for bestsellers here. I wonder if that’s good for a release like this.

Ahh yeah they just use the same generic message on both Blu-ray & DVD pages saying "Region A/1" and in my haste I wrote the 1 instead of A lol.

Speaking of Amazon doing weird things, I don't know if this is happening anywhere else but Amazon Aus has now changed the the page to have 2 different variants of the Babylon 5 complete series blu-ray.

The original one that I ordered last week is now called "21 Disc Version" and there's a new one that's $35 cheaper. The new one says Region Free in the title while the old one doesn't and still has the warning. It's probably just the same darn boxset and they screwed up the listing details meaning had I waited a few more days I could have saved that money grr. :/

Contacted Amazon support about the above and they argued that it's 2 legit variants and just read the same half useless info off pages I could see.

"Oh that's the 21 disc version"
"Ok, how many discs are in the other one then?"
"That's just the blu-ray release"
"What? They're both Blu-ray"
"One, is region free, one is not"
"they're all region free so there's probably only one boxset sitting in your warehouse, this is a listing mixup and people like me who ordered a few days ago have been overcharged"
"They are different. Please make sure you read the information on both pages properly to tell the difference between them."
*closes chat with me*

Grrrr
Wouldn’t surprise me if one is the US release and the other the U.K. release, identical discs but different SKU’s.

Randy has his review up and does a darn good job with his write up. Good job Randy! Thanks for the shout out about extras. Maybe we’ll see them ported over for the movie set.
