it has nothing to do with the issue but just to give ya a heads up on Dark Knight it defaults to dolby digital, You probably did as your receiver decodes the audio trough HDMI.

In my case since I use analog with blurays so I had to figure this out on my own.
hmm I am not sure if I did or not. I set the audio on the ps3 to hdmi from the old optical setting and went with it. I dont remember what it said on the denon though. I'll look later

Your receiver will filter everything for ya.
Gotcha. When I first set up the receiver, the rears were a bit over bearing. I think they were set at 60 or 80hz. They seem to be less distracting with the crossover set high at 110hz. Would doing that make them less overbearing? Seemed to work lol. The front stage is at 80hz though. I'll set the sub to 120hz, phase 0*, and switch it to Dolby 5.1. That sound right? Thanks!

Sorry if this is jumbled, typing on the iPhone lol

Maybe the result of having directly in your ears not sure if you used the Automatic setup on your receiver to set the gain on your speakers but should not be a problem at all having your X-over set to 80hz on all the speakers. If the gain is default at 0 right now it might sound over powered since technically speaking they should be at equal to you then your front speakers.

Phase 0 sounds right by the position of your sub in the room if you hear it properly then chances are it's ok. Hard to tell how it really respond with the rest of the setup from the picture like that we do not have the sound dynamic of the room. Read the thread by Big Daddy it's really helpful, Setting you speakers all to small should do the trick though since only the the sub is getting the lower end frequencies.

Yes I did run the auto setup and went through all 8 zones. You are right though, I went from little to no rear surrounds to actually having something! I just have to get used to everything.
Now I can't wait to get back home and tweak it a lil more lol. It'll be nice to have this down pat. I'm still learning but you guys are so incredibly helpful here!

You Canuks are so lucky to have Future Shops. Jeez, that'd be a steal in USA $!

The only store that I know of in Arizona that might even be vaguely similar is Fry's Home Electronics here in PHX. But, they don't sell Energy products, and don't carry anything other than Infinity, Martin Logan, Velodyne (subs), and Polk. ML is certainly a worthy alternative to Energy, but more expensive. Definitive Technology speakers quite similar to Energy in price and quality are available at Ultimate Electronics (also in PHX) at discount prices. Ultimate carries Klipsch, but I just don't care for Klipsch speakers. It's very sad that they don't sell Energy speakers which are owned by Klipsch! I guess that was Klipsch's strategy, buy out the competition. Locally, places like K2 Audio Video and several HT contractors carry Energy if you are willing to pay MSRP and not at discount.

Not sure what you have for surrounds, but the Sony B-100s may be excellent surrounds until you get new ones. Let us know what you think.

Don't worry about the colors not matching, I saw a guy on here (hc666 I think) and he had cherry towers and a black center and it looked great to me... Plus I don't know how your setup is, but if you're gonna have the center tucked away in a space within your TV stand (like I do), it may not ever be noticed anyways.
Shipping was $32(online it was $40). Grand total was $252 and some change.

I don't use surrounds. Too much trouble to run the wires either around the whole room or under carpet. I know I am missing out on additional effects without them.

Speakers should arrive Tuesday.

Jeez rwo, That sucks, my local guy is was willing to do the new CF-50 and CC-10 for about $900, tax included, and MSRP was about $1100 before tax. Of course, my wife told me to look online to see about a cheaper deal, and then I found the C-300s for $125 each and the C-C100 for $120 shipped, then she gave me the OK. Otherwise I might have the CFs right now.

If you ever want to buy Energys, let me know I will get you the guys number and then you can come out to CA, and I will take you over there.

Don't be such a hater they own Energy since 2006, but Yeah I don't like the speaker design finish and sound I'll give you that.

But it's also clear that they kept seperate Entities for Energy/Mirage and also Jamo Danish Speaker Brand also Acquired by Klipsch that you might not know.

Did you have all your speakers set to small on your receiver back then?

Did you have Volume an X-over properly ajusted?

BigAl, I don't hate Klipsch, but I can say that I like them the least of all the speakers I have heard in my time. If I was going for a pair of brighter sounding speakers that I would take KEFs over them in a heart beat. The way their highs project through their horns, I just do not like at all.

On-the-other-hand, Their ownership of one of my 2 favorite speakers companies means that I have an appreciation for them, in-as-much-as they do not go and screw it up, like they have done with a couple of their other purchases in the past. (of course you know my other favorite speaker company is Dali)

Default C7's For SALE

Anyone interested in the southeast? I have 2 C7's in blond (maple?) that I need to get out of the house...now. Great price but I won't mention it here.

PM

dickn52@yahoo.com

if interested. Trust me, these are perfect and the price would be fantastic. Hope I didn't barge in too much, but this is the first time I have even heard or read an "Energy" comment.

Thanks for the offer. It may be some time before I start upgrading. I'm enjoying what I have now quite a lot.

When Energy makes its next move to replace the CF line, then I may consider it.

That was my point towards cfurtado, they don't sound awful but you have the right not like them.

As for you favorite speaker brand lol I did not hear The concept 2 yet but all I ca tell ya is you got to give the Totem Sttafs a try.

I sure will give a listen to the Dalis.

You know it may be a while until I do any speaker upgrades too. I keep messing with my settings and making little changes that just keep making them sound better and better everyday. I think the only planned change to the speakers would be to add a second sub so that the bass is more well rounded.

When I do get the bug to upgrade, I am taking my Energys with me and I will be directly comparing them to everything else.

Yeah, I do want to listen to the Staffs too. I tried to listen to them when I was on vacation but couldn't get ahold of the dealers. It was like they all went out of business in my area.....

You could always have a wireless transmitter and receiver for your surround speakers. It aint cheap tho.
