Wouldn't an Anakin clone mean bringing back Hayden Christensen? I don't think Disney is that stupid.

I saw a woman in town today wearing one of those leg walking thingies that Ford is wearing. Looked really uncomfortable.

If Anakin were to pop up in the new trilogy than the best way to do it would be as a force ghost.

And when I say force ghost I mean elderly Anakin force ghost.

They could potentially bring Obi-Wan and Yoda back that way as well.

I wonder how they'd pull off Obi-Wan, should they decided to bring back the force ghosts. With Anakin they can get Hayden back (I know, I know, but they'll most likely want to keep continuity with the special editions) and with Yoda they can just make a new identical puppet and have Frank Oz voice him. But having a new guy play Alec Guinness? That'd just feel wrong.

They could bring back Ewan McGregor and make him look older. I know he's not Alec Guinness but it would be the next logical choice and I feel like he's just as much Obi Wan as Guinness was.

And I have to ask, has Mark Hamill always talked so..... prissy?

Or they can rererererelease the films on BD and digitally replace Guinness at the end of Jedi with McGregor.

That suggestion has been brought up before, and I'm not really a fan. I like Ewan a lot, he's a good actor and he was a great young Obi-Wan, but seeing him in old man makeup trying to sound and act like Alec Guinness? I dunno, it wouldn't feel right to me. If they have to attempt it I'd prefer they find a really, really good impersonator, or even use CGI (tactfully) and someone with a similar voice.

I think bringing Ewan back as Obi-Wan could work great in a future spin-off set between ROTS and ANH though.

I am optimistically cautious. I didn't like the fact that he said "we are just there to lend our support" that it's basically for the new cast. To me that smacks of the new TV Show Dallas (shudder). I will say that if the big three turn out to be nothing but bit players(and I am hoping not) you might as well start gearing up for the aftermath to follow (and you know what I am talking about). But I think by releasing the UOT in all it's original glory would go along way, I mean along way to ensuring what happened after the PT does not happen again. Just a theory I have.....

The original 3 are there to pass the torch. I think they will have decent size parts in 7, but it will still be about the new cast. 8 and 9 I bet they play smaller and smaller roles.
I still predict that Han will die in 7. Ford wanted him to die in 6, and since theyve said he has a big role in 7, I bet they figured give him more to do for his last film.

Well, FWIW Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan was clearly seen on some art that was in the background of some of those early BTS photos of the production staff. I could see them going for the CG Guinness idea, 'cause if he's meant to be a ghost then they can fudge the edges of it and wouldn't have to make him solidly photo-real. On the other hand, I'd be okay with an aged-up McGregor too, and it'd be more in-keeping with the 'practical' ethos that JJ keeps espousing.

Or just go the disembodied voice route. Was used on occasion in the OT.

You can tell this is an absolute thrill for him. Plus I love his pause on every answer of "What CAN I SAY / NOT SAY".

Him and Carrie have really gotten serious and into fighting shape. Gotta give the guys applause for the dedication.

It was done a couple of times in Star Wars, yeah, but he's a ghost through and through (so to speak ) in the other two movies. And since they've done gone and established the Force Ghost device, it'd be a gyp to just have a disembodied voice in the new ones. I still like the CG idea; if it was used for short enough scenes and wasn't entirely CG - map a digital Guinness face to a real body then make it all translucent and shit - then it might just work.
