The collector's edition in Australia is basically a repackaging of the UK version - looking at these discs though based on what company logos are on them, I'm guessing Madman's pressing their own discs locally for the regular edition and that's what they're using as replacements.

As an Australian who bought my collector's edition from Zavvi, is there anything I need to to get a replacement?

I've never seen it despite knowing the title. Might have to check it out; sounds like it got a nice Blu-ray release.

Has anyone found a poly bag or some kind of protection for the ultimate edition? For the price it came at I'd like to protect it as much as I can.

I'm interested in this as well. I recently picked up one of these from eBay for my GKIDS Collector's Edition and it fit perfectly. I would love to have something similar for the Ultimate Edition.

I really wish Retroprotection would include metric measurements of their boxes in their listings and on their website - so many of these boxes could be used for other purposes, like anime storage, if we just had any idea what the actual measurements of these boxes were.

I own the UK Collector's Edition, and I assume that boxset would not fit into that Retroprotection box, since the UK typically uses wider Blu-ray cases than the US. So the outer box is probably wider than the US set too.

For now, I'm just keeping my GKids Ultimate Edition set inside it's original shipping box to protect it.

Maybe look at LP/vinyl protector options for the Ultimate Edition. I’m not sure there is one. That would be one of the options I can think of. Other is you look into getting a custom acrylic case from one of the place that make them for collectibles. Another go to a hobby store and see if they have a shadow box or display case that may work.

Depending on your location in the world, the case mentionned in these two threads worked perfectly for me. And it’s really cheap.

I received my replacements on february 10th, both the disc and the cases. Interestingly, they were sent from Righstuff via Fedex. So, a success story from an international customer and awesome service from Shout as far as I'm concerned.

What do you do to warp the lid to get it to close properly? I don't have a heat gun, and this is probably going to be the cheapest option for storing this thing other than the original box.

I was browsing their website when trying to find something for the Robotech Collector's Edition (for the full outer box), but ultimately could not figure out if anything would fit. It really would help so much if they would give measurements.

I haven't warped/cropped it yet; currently pondering on the approach. While, the concave handle does get "ever so slightly in the way" (<millimeter), the rest of the NA UE box fits snuggly inside (not much room for foam/cushioning).

The plastic has a little flexibility so pulling up a bit procures the slight give needed to close the case, but keep in mind that closing it fully without addressing the handle issue will result in risking damaging/deforming the boxset.

Its tricky because some stuff looks bigger on their website than it actually is. I've had some luck in the past emailing retroprotection my measurements of a box and asking if they had anything that fit it.

It's basically at a point with anime anymore where if you know you're gonna want something, particularly a special edition, there's no benefit to waiting to see if something will go lower. You just need to bite the bullet and buy it when it's in stock.

Sometimes something will stick around a little longer, but it's not uncommon to see LE's getting listed on eBay for like $499 and up a day after release.

Ehhh maybe. Anime here doesn't usually sell out for a while tbh. Eva seems to be an exception. Though I guess our special editions usually aren't really anything fancy anyway.

Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel III limited edition didn't sell out, so I got the 30% discount on that at least haha

JB HiFi (national electronics/media store here) usually has a 20-30% tv/movies discount at least like every 2-3 weeks it seems, so I've learned to just wait for those. I used to just order anime I wanted as soon as they were out, but then I'd see them on sale like the next week and would be annoyed I bought them too soon.

Eva collectors edition is still available to order on Amazon, so I just ordered it there, full price though :/
But also, says something like "awaiting stock", so they might not even get anymore and my order will just get cancelled. I already have the ultimate edition, so I'm not missing much, just thought it'd be nice to have something more shelvable.

Sentai, and bizarrely, Aniplex have become sort of the exceptions in terms of maintaining regular stock of their premium releases. I remember the Violet Evergarden LE set sold out of preorder and was showing up on eBay on release day for like $499 and up. Licensing can also play a factor in some cases resulting in lower print runs before something is just gone.

I've simply been burned on waiting for a price decrease or RS holiday sale only to find that something I wanted is no longer available.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but is the Shout Factory Collector's Edition the same as the UK Zavvi Exclusive Collector's Edition? At least content wise.

Bummed I missed out on the UK set but just spotted it on Shout's website.
