The Dark Force thread has already surpassed the Severin thread in posts and is closing in on views despite Dark Force being much, much newer.

Every post of someone protesting the marketing puts Dark Forces thread at the top of the forum .

I'll bite. What does anything you just said have to do with DF's all around poor business model? Most recent example, the poor handling and distribution of Dead Pit to it customers. The actual customer base that wish to purchase the film on Blu-ray from DF directly. Fans of the movie.

But if you for somehow think that DF thread being "at the top of the forum" gives it an immediate legitimacy and standing as a proper business model, you're sorely mistaken. Go ask cinespectral. Everyone is laughing at them, including their competitors. Right now as we speak, there are scalpers sitting at home with hundreds of copies collecting dust. This thread is warning people to make proper choices and be careful with their hard earned money.

David's been keeping the store open for longer stretches and putting it up more often, going in that direction, but after a huge selling-event, like VS does after big sales, it makes sense to close it and catch up.

He put a limit of two and then one. He has also already said he plans to do this in the future on limiteds, but polite reminders can't hurt.

As to bundles, those are awesome for people who really can't afford to spend $40 with the shipping just for one title. He puts those up to encourage sales of the slower-selling titles while making the new title affordable for those people.

With bundling you can team up, buy gifts, pick up missed titles and so on, so long as you plan ahead. When they announced they had a bunch of Zombie Nightmare coming in from Bill, we all knew that would be a bundled title. We knew it wouldn't be MMII because he's saving those boxes of blus to bundle with MMI. We knew it would be Point Doom because it just came out and hadn't really taken off yet.

Since you guys know what is coming out, why not start requesting what you feel would be better bundle-combinations for you, personally.

My votes:

Breeders and The Banker, not to ship until Banker is released.

Breeders and The Banker and Ator (which I hate, but someone wants it) not to ship until all are released.

Drive In #6 and #7, not to ship until both are released.

Also, I'd love to see big opening sales events include two or three new titles, instead of doing it one at a time, because he's just going to have to ship two packages or three packages to me, instead of the one if they all come out at the same time or same semi-pre-order cycle, whatever you'd call it.

Ruined and Mirifaux should both get perma-banned because they offer nothing other than cringe material. The forum would be better for it.

Bundles are fine, as long as they’re not forced. One title for $29.95, two for $50, or whatever. But saying you can only get X if you buy it in a bundle with Y is bullshit, full stop.

To David/Tom, the bolded part of the above user's suggestion isn't bad, if you add in a list of eligible titles, so Bill's designated $30/$35/$40 titles wouldn't be included and you could still sell his stuff at the same time. Is that something that your store's hosting platform allows or is that one you couldn't do without taking down his titles for that specific sale period? I wouldn't want Bill to lose any sales, but I'm also really sick of all the complaining people do here and on Facebook.

I don't have access to dark forces books so I'm not going to claim that they have a good or bad business model. People did the same thing with code red and unsolicited business advice. You may not like the business model but that doesn't mean it's not successful for the business.

My point with the thread bumping is that a gives exposure to their label whether good or bad. I also think dark force has been having some fun with the criticism with their "hiring" of Tom who is the label professional.

I have no doubt a non slip version will occur, but it sounds like first a second LE run with different cover is a possibility due to the success of the first LE run.

Just have to wait it out

We have just received word that the DEAD PIT Collector's Edition blu-ray is on Amazon for almost 100 dollars more than our MSRP! Apparently Ebay is a bargain compared to this. Is this a good thing or a bad thing for the Dark Force customers that own this product? You tell us, we are not sure at this point. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Would it be better if it showed up for 10.00? Now is your time to be heard. We will attempt to get the Demon and Banana Man together for a special LIVE FEED on the subject.

Do they not realize that Amazon is always way over-priced compared to ebay? I call Amazon "wish" prices, cuz mother****ers wish they could sell shit for that much!
Ebay auctions (completed) will show much closer to what something is truly going for. If I had a copy of Dead Pit I could list in on Amazon for $100,000, or even a million (haven't sold on Amazon in years myself, but back when I did there wasn't even a penalty for silly prices as you only paid fees on stuff that did sell). Would they make a remark about that? It also sounds like they are trying to lean people to ebay, where they or their friends are selling copies for jacked up prices.
Being proud of this listing is ****ing retarded, period. Posting about it on FB in celebration is far beyond ****ing retarded and far beyond unprofessional.

The trade forums and local listings as well as some international auctions are reflecting slightly lower prices on Dead Pit, as compared to Ebay US, but you are correct that the Amazon listings reflect wishful pricing. One went up for $120 shortly after they posted the information on the higher one.

Also, there is a penalty for listing anything at a grossly inflated price. The software has advanced now to the point where people like me, reporting dealers online, are obsolete. I still do it for fun, but it makes no difference, as they are always already flagged. The software flags all grossly inflated Ebay and Amazon listings and the sellers are placed on watchlists, with attention being given to all of their transactions, including ones that would never be flagged, because they are priced respectably. This is to aid in establishing a pattern, over time. If they do it a few times, they are then investigated. Not on some of the trade sites though.

Anyway, never list anything for $100,000 or even $1,000 unless it is a car or expensive computer or something of that nature.

As to the two Amazon sellers, both are established and both specialize in Blu-rays and DVDs, so I'm not sure why they would list their copies so far above the current ebay pricing. That's been a dangerous game for several years now and, really, is getting a few more dollars for a copy of Dead Pit really worth being flagged? I'd say no.
