Lighten up, man. I'm not going to argue the semantics of greek mythology and the entertainment factor of a fictional character swinging blades chained to his arms to kill cool looking monsters in as bloody manner as possible.
It's cool man, not trying to start an argument. But a healthy debate never hurt anybody. I'm not saying the writing of this fictional story is always great or even consistent within its own universe, but I am defending it in that it is deeper and more creative than people sometimes give it credit for being. All I was trying to get at is there's more to it than Kratos simply being a mindless machine.

Anyway, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinions, so long as they have references to back up and support those views. I think we've both done that.

We agree in principal, I just didn't elaborate quite as much as you felt necessary, that's what I was laughing at. There wasn't really a debate at hand since we were generally on the same page. I was just sharing my summary of events.

Kratos is a mindless machine, though, a mindless KILLING MACHINE!!!! He lost his mind first episode when the story even stated he was consumed by conquest. That's how the dumb-dumb killed his own family to get in this whole mess.

Precisely why Santa Monica Studio revamped his backstory after focus groups found the idea of him being a simpleton in Alabama with leg appliances to be too idiotic. However, if you watch the Making Of videos of GoW I, you can clearly see promotional posters in the background that say "Run, Kratos, Run!"

So I guess we'll never get to see the Chocolates of Chaos?

To me he's more of a tragic, cursed killing machine. The 'whole mess' began with him pledging allegiance to Ares--much like selling his soul to the devil--that is what led to the death of his family. So, just as audiences knew right away that something bad was going to happen when King Lear announced that he would divide his kingdom among his daughters, do we suspect that Kratos is setting himself up for yet another fall by accepting Gaia's help and teaming up with the Titans to take down Olympus?

As I said before, it's old-school melodrama in the GoW series. Whether Kratos will once again be burnt by his tragic nature, or whether he will actually find redemption in GoW III is, I think, the real question to be answered.

I think he'll be burnt again, unless he's already planning on killing both Gods and Titans. The demo shows him helping a titan (Chronos?) kill Helios and then ends with him attacking the titan.

He couldn't be that dumb to trust the titans. He knows their history. Its going to end with him killing them all, or maybe only Gaia remaining.

I do not think that was Chronos as he was a tan titan, not fire red.

I just finished GOW 1 & 2 and I couldn't recognize which titan that was, so its possible that it was a titan yet to be introduced.

Yeah it kinda looks like maybe Atlas in the demo. But, I would be surprised if much of what is in the E3 demo actually shows up in the final game, so I'm not really looking to the demo for story reveals--more as just pure demo of the kind of gameplay we're likely to see in the final build, rather than actual piece of it.

I thought it was Atlas at first as well, but it doesn't look exactly like him. However, its always possible for them to redo the art design.

It's not Atlas, because Atlas has four arms. Speaking of him, do play Chain of Olympus for the PSP, it's just as good as GoW 1 or 2 and the story is canon.

You may be right about the demo not being in the actual game, but even then why would they suggest / hint at Kratos attacking a titan? They know we're hungry for the story as much as for the gameplay!

I think they were really just trying to be provacative with the demo, but what is presented in the demo also is kinda strange. Why would Kratos bother helping this Titan out with Helios, only to attack the Titan right after? And, Kratos' actual 'attack' on the Titan seems a little too perfect as a set-up for the title card at the end. It all just makes me think that the demo is a narrative mis-direct that still allows players to get a taste of some of the new play mechanics.

The storyline of 3 will have some quick turnarounds near the beginning. Whats to say Zeus doesn't use his influence to turn the Titans against Kratos?

If the Titans are on Kratos's side throughout the whole game and it starts at the foot of mount olympus, the game will only be 1 hour long.

I would hate to speculate about what will exactly happen in GoW III. You could be right, presuming that Zeus is around at all. Also, there's been no indication that Zeus actually had mind-control abilities over the Titans. It would be an incredible feat of persuasion, too, if Zeus could convince the Titans that Kratos is the real bad guy to them--considering how Zeus has treated the Titans until now (Typhon surely has a beef with Kratos, but the others seem rather aloof to Kratos, if not even amenable to him so far).

Surely, there will be some twists in the story to make Kratos' job harder. Initially, I suspect that you might see individual gods cutting backroom deals with individual Titans to undermine the assault on Olympus or spare some of the gods--something like that to assuage Kratos' revenge plan. Again, just speculating there--I really don't know what to expect.

On the first bit of the under water part you have lots of time. When you get to the 2nd bunker, stay on the right.. then rise over the lip at speed when the barrier goes passed. If you stick tight to the left, by the time you get over the lip the next barrier is almost on top of you already.

yup, it might be a modern tale, but it is a traditional Greek tradgedy. Look at Oedipus (since it tends to be a bit more familiar)

- king/queen have baby but oracle tells them he will kill the husband and wed the mother.
- king/queen send baby to be killed
- baby is found and saved by shepherd and given to an other king and queen
- once grown up Oracle tells him he will kill pop and sleep with mom
- Oedipus runs away and during his trek runs into a man (his father) that he kills accidentally while fighting
- Continues travel and runs into the Sphinx (an evil monster) and kills it
- The people of the area are happy that the monster is dead and since the king died not that long ago they make him king and he weds the queen
- time passes, has 4 kids with the queen (his mom) and things look good for a bit
- plague hits the kingdom, goes to Oracle and he is told he needs to avenge the originals kings death
- looks into it, finds out he killed the king
- queen kills herself realizing the prophesy came true
- searches more and finds out the truth, queen/wife was his real mom, man he killed was the old king his dad and blinds himself and goes into exile.

It is the same thing, Gods mess with humans and make things happen (i.e. if the gods did not tell the Oracle, his parents might never have tried to get rid of him and never start the ball rolling) and when something looks good a bit (i.e. kills the sphinx and becomes king) it is just a set-up to screw things up even more.

It has been a long time I have not played GOW2 and even longer for GOW, and have not played the demo. But my guess (assuming it continues to follows the Greek tragedy model and that there is some respect for Greek mythology) he will be allied with the Titans, go after the gods, capture them and imprison them (at least most of them) something happens, flips makes a deal with the gods and goes after the titans.
