Hi,

About 1200 here... It seems only yesterday I was around the 400 level... Then again I remember when I only had 1 ... the free Taladega Nights I got for buying a PS3 when it was released...(at the time the PS3 was the cheapest Blu Ray player @$600 or $500 for a model with reduced capabilities.)

With this many .... I sort of attack other types of media.

I put ALL of my CDs on 2 hard drives as Apple Lossless files and sold back the ones that were sell-able (and threw out the rest.) All my music fits on a iPod Classic which I use anywhere (car, house, on the go...)

I replaced my only SACD with a Blu Ray audio version.

I have only 3 Laserdiscs and I'm tempted to throw them out or donate them everyday but I just keep them in a closet,... I have no player for them for over a decade. (I have the content backed up as Mpegs.)

I don't really feel the need to attack my DVDs apart from replacing them with Blu Ray when possible. For a while I "converted" some to HDX files on Vudu but the HD you get from streaming often is bad and upconverted DVD still looks better.

Gaming is interesting or confusing... I watch so many movies that my gaming systems are stored away except for the wii because that's what my kids like.

I suppose I ought to try to re-kindle my PS3 but for months I just can't be bothered...

-Brian

I will never buy anything from the Fast & Furious franchise, or anything by Kevin Smith. Also most Wes Anderson films.

Don't think there is. I just accept 2,000+ as everything over. Would be a pretty lonely club otherwise

I have over 900 in my price tracker. Suppose I go bonkers and make one gigantic order resetting my price tracker to zero...I'll on my way to 3k .

1200+ Club. Omg. I still remember getting the Avatar Collector's Edition. First Blu and with mspar009s Criterion sale I surpassed 1200 Blus. Wow. Bunch of double dips though but still. Seeing someone with 3000+ is pretty breathtaking though. Hats off to you.

Avatar (Extended Collector's Edition) was my first Blu-Ray as well, purchased in November of 2010, today I reached the 1,000 milestone with Planet 51.

Hard to believe it's only been 3 1/2 years since my first purchase, and I have been hooked on the format ever since. Even during the DVD era I never "got into" buying titles like I do now, but back then it was just my son and myself, now my family has extended 4 more that live with me... all women.. dear lord help me.

ha ha. Good story, and congrats on the family. I also never got into buying movies in the DVD era like I do now. I had about 300 DVDs built up in 6 years before I quit buying videos completely for two years and waited until the HD format war ended because I knew I wanted to switch over to high-def. Even after Blu-ray won, I swore I wasn't going to buy at the pace I had with DVD, 300 movies in six years was crazy.

LOL, wow that almost perfectly described my purchasing habits when DVD was king. I had about 300 DVD's, most were lost during a break-in early in 2008. Like you I wanted to upgrade to HD, and waited for the HD format war to end ( I had bad flashbacks from the Beta/VHS days), but employment issues late in 2008 pushed my ability to do that for several years. I bought the occasional DVD, but once I bought my first Blu-Ray and player, then the HDTV to watch it properly 2 weeks later (LOL), I was hooked.

That's because a lot of the alleged 3000+ collections don't really exist. Look at some of the titles on those collections. You see stuff like Avengers 2 and plenty other titles that have yet to be released.

Yeah some of them are blatantly obvious people are just adding whatever for no apparent reason. Even with those people there are only 37 listed over 3,000 so who knows how small the number is without them. That being said all it takes is one person to make a club for themselves but I don't see the need for anything beyond this thread so I am sticking here

-------------------

I'm the same way with Blu-ray where it is the most I have spent on a video format. VHS I was young and not buying myself. DVD I did buy a fair bit but was late to the party and favored games over movies. But with Blu-ray I got hooked and now seem to favor movies over games.

I don't really look at other people's collections much, but everything I have listed is owned. The only things I have listed that I don't own are incoming movies that I have ordered. I have been selling off some lately, but it isn't really making a dent.
