If you were expecting "eye-popping 3D", that's not what George wanted. He wanted something subtle that would give the environment and such a little bit of depth. THis accomplished that. Whoever did the work on that, obviously did a great job, going by the money that was made. I will be in line for Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and will be there for the other three as well.

While he's no John Williams, Hans Zimmer (Dark Knight trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) is a great composer, and I think he would be the best replacement (if need be).

Well, I wasn't. I took a break from reading about all this stuff to watch Return of the Jedi (I don't know what inspired me...) and I was listening to the score and thinking, "Man, this is magic!" Considering Williams is 80 or something, I couldn't see him coming back and was sad for this fact. But I was comforted knowing that everyone knows the Star Wars notes, and that even Williams would just tweak the tones and tempos to match the mood. Which got me thinking, "What other films have great scores?" Tim Burton films... I kid, I kid. But no, The Dark Knight popped in my mind. I know Hans Zimmer's name, he did the Simpsons movie, but I didn't know he did The Dark Knight. Is that the longest it's ever taken for someone to say "+1" to you, or what? |

Even if another talented composer came in for the new trilogy, we'll still get our iconic themes I'm sure. And it'll sound all "Star Wars-y."
Still blown away that George is okay with a Star Wars film being made with him only being on as a consultant. |

There truly will be a noticeable difference when you're not watching a Disney film. The experience might not seem worth it... |

Damn the music situation has me rather bummed.
Couldn't Williams just get some puppet composer to follow in his footsteps? (for what seems like will be a 30 year tenure/paycheck for that person) Who that is obscure in the biz wouldnt want to be Williams version 2.0? I'd hate to have someone who is known, pander to his legacy in 5 mins of the movie (credits, iconic runs here and there), while changing its spirit for their own creative happiness in the other sections resulting in a poor outcome for us.. SEE; Jurassic Park III for how this would be. The score in that movie is the weakest link among some dodgy links, that help turn it into a lifeless action/adventure not a tense adventure/thriller as the previous films. And also I would hate a totally new direction for the score that ignores Williams contributions. I would hate to see a "realistic" take on the universe, in the ultra modern generic scores, or a more cheesy Disney "fantasy" style score. Williams simply nails the tone. I guess Johnny Depp could play a pirate in it... Does anyone think that Ian McDiarmid/Palpatine should return? if this is a sequel to ROTJ and if we follow the EU then we could potentially see him return. He's one of my favourite characters. |

![]() Time will tell if "Drifter" (Kim Coates character) was overvaluing the paper. Look how into it he is? Maybe he gets erect from a big steamy mess that Star Wars may end up continuing to be Last edited by Nicky and Sue; 10-31-2012 at 09:02 AM. |

Gore Verbinski is a real possibility and would be fine. Disney completely hampered him on part two and three of Pirates of the Caribbean. He still did a decent job with no script. Part four without Verbinski was awful.
