I just scored a copy of the original digipak version of Funimation's 1.11 blu-ray off eBay for $50 earlier this morning.

Probably the cheapest you'll get it at this point.

I sold my Funimation copies of the Rebuild films. I'll wait for GKids to hopefully get the rights and put out matching releases or a complete collection.

I’m holding onto my FUNimation copies in case hypothetical GKIDS reissues don’t have the (superior, at least for 1-2) original dubs.

I rather have the Netflix cast redub the Rebuilds at this point.

Absolutely not. I can’t have English Eva without Allison Keith and Tiffany Grant. It was a big mistake for Netflix to not bring the originals back IMO, as talented as their cast is.

I sold mine as well for the same reasons -- that and the packaging inconsistency was killing me. 1.11 is a magnet for fingerprints. Got to wear gloves or something when handling it.

I'd like the originals, but I also like continuity... but really as long as pronunciation stays the same then I wouldn't mind. It bothers me that in classic dub for the show they would say "A-va" but then in EoE, they called them Eva, as in "foreva." And it wasn't the same dub cast.

I'm primarily holding on to my Funi "Rebuild" BDs out of a sense of completionism, as that's kinda "my thing" when it comes to Evangelion home video releases. I've got one example of each major release type from both Japan and the United States, as seen below. Even when GKIDS (presumably) releases their own set I'll probably still keep Funi's BDs around as well.

I’m also keeping my ADV/Manga DVDs for their extras, and the original cuts of episodes 21-24, plus Fly Me to the Moon.

The original EoE dub did have some recasts for smaller characters, and the inconsistent pronunciation of “Eva” always bothers me, but it still has the core of what made the ADV dub so memorable. If you watch the ADV dub followed by the Manga EoE dub followed by the Prime Rebuild dubs, you will have a fairly consistent cast since the Prime dubs mostly used the EoE replacements for the ADV actors that didn’t return.

I meant "was" the same dub cast, it was late when I wrore it lol Even Shinji and Misato were saying it different in EoE from NGA. If it had been new people that'd be understandable since pronunciation depends on each person for some things, but this was the same original actors from NGA. I just never got why it seems like anime dubs don't have some kind of guide with their actors for pronunciation. There's some things where one person will say a word or name one way and then somebody will same it different immediately after them. Shouldn't be too hard to be like "hey, you said this wrong, say it like this."

And what’s weird is that some characters do pronounce it “EI-va” like the original TV dub. That dub was pretty consistent, but I do remember Toji saying “EE-va” once.

Dynit has picked up the Italian home video rights to 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. They're also going to redub the film.

I'm just glad to see that Shin Eva is actually going to escape "Amazon Prime jail" sooner or later. Hopefully GKIDS can pick up the US physical media rights to it (as well as the first three Rebuild films) in the near future.

Nice. At least this shows that people outside Amazon can get it. Hopefully an English home release is announced soon

There's literally no reason for me to, as the UK/AUS releases are either identical in content to their US counterparts (i.e. the Eva TV Blu-ray set & individual Rebuild Blu-rays) or else massively inferior NTSC-to-PAL conversions (i.e. the older DVDs from ADV Films).
