It was announced a while ago to be at Ronin. Interestingly, I asked the Ronin twitter page for updates and they stated they heard a rumor it wasn’t going to be their title anymore. They suggested I contact the Ronin FB Page for more info. Ronin FB told me the title was still in the pipeline. Odd to think they have different people running different socials considering how small they are. Still, at least they believe it’s happening eventually.

I actually don’t own GATES/CITY on blu, but $40 on a totally ripped up print is asinine. I’ll gladly wait for Scorpion if the day ever comes.

Upon further reflection, I now understand the price hike. After attending 6 weeks of USC film classes, General Manager Tom is now overqualified for his position, and deserving of a pay raise if DF is to retain his services. So now you have Dave's salary AND Tom's Salary to cover.

I had thought it was a typo, that he meant to write $29.95, and then he explained about the unfortunate cost of restoring both films, as they both still needed a lot of work, even though they were going for the drive-in experience, and, on top of that, the cost of the thicker glow-cover....

I think it was a mistake to make any blu in the drive-in series a glow-cover blu, given that the cost of producing the cover makes them have to charge more, on top of doing two films instead of just one. Had they not done that, it would be cheaper but, also, they might have had the option to drop Gates, when they saw how much it would cost to restore, and just slap Psycho From Texas together with a different and cheaper film and no glow-cover. When they saw how much it was costing, they made a better call for the next release, so, at least, they won't be doing the $40 drive-in release a second time. Live and learn.

We are not selling GATES OF HELL for 29.95...that will be the price of BREEDERS. The Gates of Hell Drive-In #6 release cost us a lot of money. It's 2 movies on a BD 50. We had to do extensive color work on PSYCHO FROM TEXAS because all previous masters looked like crap. Have an amazing "Drive-In Mode" intermission done by Damon Packard. The slip for this one is a work of art. And lastly GATES OF HELL is the US theatrical version created from a 35mm print with the Gates of Hell main title. It cost us a lot of money to do this one and we prefer to sell it in different bundles which will be more of a bargain. Buy it alone and it will be 39.95. We don't care if we sell 10 of them.

So, there you have a much more detailed explanation than mine, as to the snafu. My statement that they explained the $40 price tag as necessitated by the cost of restoration of two films and the glow-cover, is now a bit anemic by comparison, as it appears the production cost went beyond that, to include the extras and a larger 50GB disc, on top of everything else, but, thankfully, they won't do this again with a drive-in release. #7 will be affordable for all of us drive-in series fans, without a glow-cover and not from two films with far more problems than the most expensive films usually have. Live and learn again.

Dudes - can we just kick back a minute and "appreciate" the fact that an almost 40 y old italian zombie flick is getting its - i dunno 10th? home video release on blu-ray ? Jesus Christ - we're talking about "Ein Zombie hing am Glockenseil".

That is nothing short of amazing.

Why not just say you like the original art?
Why take it a step further to say he's "soooo bad"?
