That was actually the original plan for the Eclipse series. But as we all know, things did not work out that way. So they released a few of the films that were supposed to come out in the original cult cinema line, like The Monsters and Madmen set and Jigoku, in the main line and apparently they did not sell well. Which is supposedly the reason we had to wait years and years for them to release more of the Japanese horror titles they are holding, and then only on DVD.

Regarding this months releases, I am underwhelmed. I might get the Rosselini set sometime and maybe upgrade my copy of Slacker, but there's nothing that makes me rush out to pre-order. I am not sad, though. There are so many releases that I want in October, so I can really use the spare cash.

I'm always open to all titles and believe that they are worthwhile regardless of how much certain things initially excite me. The single best example for me is "The Moment Of Truth" which rarely gets talked about, but for which I completely loved and highly recommend.

At this point, I have over 400 Criterion, Eclipse and Essential Art house titles. I haven't unfortunately made it through them all, but everything I've watched deserved it's place and had something to recommend about it.
Yeah, just based my comment off the specifics you had cited. I Married A Witch is a really fun movie. You can't go wrong with Veronica Lake and Fredric March. I'll be really pleased if it and Scanners are out in October.

I suppose it's kind of bittersweet that I will never catch up with all the Criterions I want to see.

It is very special. The way Lynch employs mirrored imagery in the third act is one of the finest achievements in film. Nobody else can mesh dream logic and reality like him.

That's probably what made the movie for me. He's such a great director.

So first it's "not that special" then it's "he's such a great director"? I'm super confused

Another great gay film is Being John Malkovich. I think it explores sexual identity unlike any other film I have seen.

I was saying that the relationship wasn't very special, in my opinion. However, the way that David Lynch crafted it and scripted it out made it work.

It's a tragedy of epic proportions that the four films in the When Horror Came to Shochiku set are only available on DVD. That's one of the most fun sets that I own.

I know they have the rights to more Hitchcock titles...so, where are they?
After last year's mega-Hitchcock releases on many labels, this year is slim pickens so far..the original Man Who Knew Too Much has been IT.

Almost my same order! But, I snagged "Life and Death of Colonel Blimp" instead of "Things to Come".

And I had about $13 on a gift card, so the three discs came to a bit over $40.

$29.01 per Blu-ray with membership discount, plus the current "$5 off of $50" coupon, plus the "buy two get one free" deal.

I was going to wait until the July sale to bag these, but the above price was even better.

Between these and the three Olive films that I ordered last week from the ImportCDs sale (The Quiet Man, The Enforcer, Sands of the Kalahari), my Blu-ray budget for June has been maxed out. Next stop: the (hopeful) July sale.

I got you. I think the film the film has an extraordinary emotional pull in regards to the relationship, but yeah, it's not exactly specifically about the "gay experience".

I imagine they're gonna be staggering the releases of these titles like they do with their Chaplins. So maybe 1 to 2 Hitchcocks per year.

I like that once in a while because of how a film doesn't act too self-aware and label itself..

(I'm also quoting the coffee part because that's what I'm doing right now )

Exactly, I was just about to write how I love how Lynch doesn't make their "anormal" sexual preferences a huge deal. It's not only perfectly okay, it's beautiful too.

Are you grunting "napkin....napkin..." too?
