Borrowed “Fearless” from the library, since lDlisturb3d mentioned it before. I know I rented it years ago, but never got into it for some odd reason.

Now, I love it! It has decent fight scenes, yes, but not quite as many and not as fantastic as I would have expected. Come to think of it, I wonder if the Director’s cut has more; I seem to remember the previews showing something with the guys standing on vertical logs, but I didn’t see that in this unrated cut…hmm…

It’s the story that grabbed me the most in this film. Seeing Jet Li’s character descent into corruption and his attempts at redemption is very interesting to me, and I think the film has its share of profound themes and philosophies. Much of it was rather heart-warming.

It seemed pretty well-made as a film; the production value was quite interesting. Acting seemed excellent. Photography is not bad.

Comparatively, I still rate “Ip Man” higher, since it is more stylized and has more impressive fight scenes. But I was quite happy with “Fearless” and will promptly add it to my Christmas wish list. I’ll also be interested in seeing the Director’s Cut.

4/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 4.5/5, film: 4/5, i/e: 2/5)

Im glad you liked it. I think the story itself was pretty good. Now since you've seen both and you still recommned IP MAN, its as good as bought . Ohh the blu ray version of Fearless is the directors cut.

Letters from Iwo Jima

What a powerful movie and very touching. Like i mentioned before, when it comes to history some stories just need to be told. I'd definitely put this in that category.

This first battle of World War 2 on a island filled with Black Sand! The war itself doesnt really get you its the characters! Ken Watanabe is an amazing actor, his performance was above average, right alone with Kazunrai Ninomiya and Tsuyoshi Ihara (never mind his horrible role in "NINJA" )

Dont need to emphasize on Eastwood amazing direction. So superb job in direction and performance. Im really glad i bought this film. Recommended

True Romance

Pretty cool film, very different and entertaining. The biggest things that caught my attention with this film was the humor and Christopher Walken. He such a bad ass dude . Besides that i thought the movie was ok, it really didnt live up to its hype like i expected but still was a nice little ride. I enjoyed the wide range of cast members and the unique blunt style of humor
[Show spoiler]You want me to suck his........ That part had me dying lol.
. Besides a couple more highlights there's really not much more to say about this film. FOR FANS ONLY

3.5/5

Ocean's Twelve - 3.75/5

I enjoyed it, but it's not nearly as good as the first. I'll get the third from Netflix in a few weeks

Next greatest rental: “The Legend of Zorro.”

There’s something about this film that just totally prevented me from giving my undivided attention. I can see that it has a high production value, plenty of swashbuckling action, quality acting, some amusing comic scenes…but much of it just felt dumb, like another typical Hollywood adventure. I think the biggest things are: the photography seems very plain, the plot seems uninspiring, and the comedy falls pretty flat. I think the story drags in many spots, and the pacing seems rather uneven. So in the end, nothing really grabbed me the way other silly blockbuster-style adventures do.

One funny thing though: they totally ripped off a line from “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (or is it homage ):

“It belongs in a museum!”
“So do you!”

Meh…

3/5 (entertainment: 3.5/5, story: 2.5/5, film: 3.5/5)

Wait, is this the sequel? I should have watched the first movie first!

The Book of Eli. 3/5.

It was fairly enjoyable, even having had the twist spoiled for me a while back.

Bummer, I felt the twist was quite clever (though my dad felt it wasn't, making the argument that
[Show spoiler]if Eli really was blind the whole time, he wouldn't have been able to fight so well, much less walk perfectly straight on the road
). Now that spoiled it for me.

But I'm still waiting for the German steelbook!
