Anyone else notice that the ADV dub for End of Evangelion is slightly out of sync by ~300ms on the bluray?
Edit: This is for the AUS/UK collectors edition - however this probably applies to the US GKids collectors/ultimate edition too. Edit 2: The ADV dub for the first half of Episode 24 'Rei III' is also out of sync.... again very slightly (200-300ms). Sigh.. I haven't noticed any sync issues with either the Japanese or the Netflix dub. Last edited by danthedancer; 04-10-2022 at 11:34 AM. |

I haven't listened to the 2.0, but the 5.1 on the GKIDS blu unquestionably sounds better (at least on my system) than the equivalent track on the Japanese release. Upon direct comparison I was actually caught off guard at what a noticeable upgrade it was.

Same here.
Also a friendly reminder: Selecta Visión's version of the Ultimate Edition will be released on the 29th of June. "Neon Genesis Evangelion - Edición Definitiva" is up for pre-orders on Amazon ES. As mentioned before, it's similar to the Italian version. Just in case, anyone's interested. Pictures [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler]

I'll agree with the original mix sounding less than stellar to the original Japanese BD.
And did you notice that in the scenes they took out the inserts (stereo or 5.1), the track is slightly out of sync too. Only for those scenes in question. |

The Spanish LE edition looks very impressive.
![]() MSRP of €160 (+/- $173) https://shop.selecta-vision.com/slctvsn-private-shop1 Surprised to see they're including Portuguese subtitles considering they had stopped doing that a couple of years ago, but it is a Limited Edition so I suppose it's an exception. |

Oh nothing bad meant by that. I bought the Dynit set last December. Its honestly far superior than the Ultimate set from All The Anime. And it doesn't have the glue issue either.

just received the 1.11 blu-ray in the mail and sadly, despite being a digipak pressing, it wasn't a copy that had the "Fly Me to the Moon" trailers.
Looks like i'll have to hang onto my DVD copy of 1.11 with those trailers. |

Collector's Edition, Standard Editions and HK Version aside. It's true, the Italian and Spanish Ultimate Editions don't have the glue issue. But they have the same downside as the English and the German release. They are not shelf-friendly. While the Italian and Spanish digistack cases work as standalone shelf-friendly cases, the English/German digibook case doesn't. It's of course nice of the Western publishers to add a book/booklet and goodies to the UE. But ending up with a box of the size of a LP is in my opinion not a good thing. The Japanese Limited Edition Blu-ray Box also had a book and flyers and still is shelf-friendly. Of course publishers have their do's and don'ts and commands right from Japan. But I wish the UE was something more like the 2015 acryl boxes or the Platinum tin box.

I'm not exactly sure when the changeover from the original digipak packaging changed to a standard case + slipcover happened, but it was certainly no later than February 2014. |

I ordered Evangelion 1.11 from Amazon in January 2013 and it came in an eco case without the booklet, though my copy of 2.22 from the same order had the slipcover which was already becoming hard to get at the time. I had to contact FUNimation to get the booklet, and they sent me the digipak-sized one so it doesn't fit in the actual Blu-ray case. Also fun fact, they goofed and put the DVD logo at the bottom.
