She was pretty brave in "Attack of the Clones", willfully going against the Jedi Order and Anakin's protests to save Obi-Wan on Geonosis. Sadly, her shining moments were cut from "Revenge of the Sith", because Lucas wanted to focus mostly on Anakin's demise.

Come on now people, Padme had the decency to at least name her kids before orphaning them because she had a broken heart.

Oh believe me....that scene needs changing too!

I liked that scene, actually. It shows that Vader has to struggle with his new limbs, instead of moving fluidly like a professional dancer.

I always considered it an homage to the classic Boris Karlof Frankenstein movie. It works either way for me.

Yeah, the Frankenstein imagery worked very well.

Up until Frankenstein asked if his wife called, anyway

Star Wars Prequels summed up: Republic that stood for thousands of years is brought down because a brat throws a temper tantrum.

Too bad Alec Guinnuess isn't still with us. JJ Abrams could shoot a scene with Ben and Luke sitting around and then Ben says "and that is how the Empire came into power" and then Luke says "really?" and then Ben smiles and says "nah, I was just f*cking with you kid". We find out that the prequels were just some elaborate joke Obi Wan pulled on Luke.

I've always thought, especially after the prequels, it was Palpatine's grand plan concerning the fall of the Republic, Vader was just a top henchman in that plot . Anakin's story is about a good Jedi turning to the darkside, later redeemed by his son which is the main focus of the whole Saga (how it was told on the screen is a different matter). Episode VII will continue following the Skywalker family.

Episode 7 will be a disappointment if Jar Jar Binks isn't in it.

I had kind of self-retconned the Padme death and figured that she was killed by some kind of dark force thing when Anakin attacked her, and that the medical droid couldn't perceive that and thus gave a diagnosis to the best of it's ability without it being very accurate.

Orrrrrrrr...... Padme faked her death so she could go into hiding on Alderaan and at least raise her daughter, which is why Leia remembers her. Unfortunately, Sideous discovered her whereabouts eventually and secretly had her killed to maintain the lie he had told Darth Vader.

So there you go

Because that's the lame part, after all.

Dying of a broken heart can be a terribly romantic notion but it can also be a little unflattering to the person who alas simply can't go on alone.

If that person is a leader and a warrior and a parent of newborns simply giving up and dying goes beyond unflattering. In that case losing the will to live isn't terribly romantic.

It's just terrible.
They could have explained it for being an after effect of Anakin using the dark side on her, in KOTOR they talk about "force bonds" (essentially sometimes Jedi form bonds in the force wth their masters, apprentices, friends, lovers, often without knowing it), it's possible that having the dark side used on her by someone she was bonded with shattered her mind beyond repair.
Of course nothing of seem to have occured to Lucas, it seems that people like him and Cameron relay more and more on dead horse tropes out of laziness.

I would be the first to admit the prequels have massive problems, but this is not one of them and is blatantly wrong. Anakin was a tiny piece in the fall of the Republic and the larger story of a Republic falling from within is one of the better ideas of the films.

'Star Wars' Inspired Invention Helps Those Missing An Arm
Quote:
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A new advancement in robotics may help those missing an arm to grasp a new future.

The “Luke Arm” is a remarkable advancement named after the prosthetic arm Luke Skywalker received in Star Wars.

The new invention is brought by Dean Kamen, the man who invented the Segway and many other medical devices

“It’s a great technical accomplishment. But more than that…we’re supplying an extraordinary capability…to some extraordinary people. These people who have literally given their arms to the country deserve this kind of support,” said Kamen. “Our goal was to try to bring so much functionality to the hand..that it would be like the Luke arm.”

The arm is built from tiny computers, acceleramoters, gyroscopes, and materials created from 3-D printers. The Luke Arm is equipped with six pre-programmed grips.

It’s controlled by wireless sensors in a client’s shoes much like a joystick. Roll a foot to one side or the other, or forwards and backwards and the arm responds by bending, twisting, opening, closing, and grasping.

Wearers can eat, peel carrots, transfer eggs without crushing them, sweep the floor, and fish. It can do just about anything.

Chuck Hildreth was 18-years old when he was electrocuted, losing both of his arms.

He’s been using a dual cable prosthetic hook, developed years ago. It’s a far cry from the Luke Arm which he was able to test.

“It’s remarkable,” said Hildreth.

He said the Luke Arm would not only give him back his self-worth but relieve his wife and kids of the burden of caring for him.

“This arm would free up for me to give back to them. To give them a break. For them to be part of a normal-ish family instead of ‘gee, we gotta help dad out,'” said Hildreth.

Matthew Albuquerque is a certified prosthetist who helps with the fitting and design of artificial limbs. He said the Luke Arm is really something special.

“It gives people hope. It gives people hope that they would be able to do things that they may not thought they could do before,” said Albuquerque. “For the people out there who are missing a limb right now, this is a great day for them.”

The Luke arm gained FDA approval about a month ago. They’re hoping to start supplying it to amputees within the next year or so.

Hildreth is anxiously awaiting its roll out.

“I hope I’m at the top of the list,” said Hildreth while laughing.

Funded by the Department of Defense, this invention comes from “Deka” in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The company is founded by Kamen who invented the Segway and many other medical devices and for soldiers who have a lost an arm in war, this invention is a real game-changer.
Very cool story.
