Warner Brothers has great customer service. They replaced, free of any charge, two very, very old DVDs of mine that failed to play properly.

Disc failure has been a very rare event in the 25+ years since I first started collecting laserdiscs and its successor formats. Less than three dozen titles have had to be replaced and in many instances it was because the studios omitted something, not because the disc itself was faulty.

I have found that when there is problem with any merchandise that is out of warranty that it is sometimes beneficial to write to the manufacturer. They surprise you sometimes going above and beyond and honoring their warranty long after it has expired. It never hurts to make your case.

Have to agree I had a UK code I couldn’t redeem and they gave me a USA one straight away.

The best part of flixster/warner bros support is the fact I always get the same guy since I contact them so often. Always have a good chat about what we've seen recently

That very link also mentions that mobile viewing is catching up in the younger age bracket. It’s s matter of time.

As people get older, they don't want to watch video on their phone.

Well despite having my digital provider apps on my iPhone I don't watch any movies on it. What I do have is an adapter that will sync up to any HDMI television. I also have a portable blu-ray player that we take on long road trips for our son to watch his favorite movies. So please, tell me more about this painting everyone into a corner marketing strategy of the future

This. These kids are not going to hit college age and invite a girl over to sit on the bed and watch something on their phone.

Really? Even a generation that are growing up with smartphones as arm extensions?

Yes but you are from a generation that didn’t grow up with always connected smartphones.

Not if phones become flexible and can be unfolded into tablets.

Yes. It's sort of how teenagers will ride their bike anywhere until they get a car and then the bike is almost useless.

When they get their own place, they will want to watch it on a TV.

Now, the number of Tv's in a house will go down because of all the other screens. But to watch something you really like will typically be on a television.

Well, maybe they would, but for reasons other than watching the movie.

When they get back to serious Movie watching, a Home Theater will not be high on their list. My Generation, the Baby Boomers and Generation X, liked and grew the Home Theater experience. The Millennials I have talked too, usually don't have the room or are satisfied with Mobile Devices and smaller screens. So I guess we will have to see how that changes the Future Home Theaters.

No, that's incorrect. My generation were the beta testers for them. We just remember when there was a phone on the wall

See, this is where you lose me as an audience. For every positive thing you say you counter it with some ridiculous statement like this. Kids are still kids. The only thing that has changed is our age and the technology we use. Everyone, no matter their age, is looking to streamline their set up. Again, stop trying to paint everyone in a corner. Because all of our experiences vary based on where we live.

Has this become the Television Or Smartphone thread?

I can not imagine any generation preferring to watch a movie on a 5.7" smartphone screen. And I can imagine a lot. How can you not have room for a TV that mounts easily to any wall? You can actually buy a 65" LG 4K HDR TV for $760 at Walmart and that is a bargain compared to the cost of the iPhone X or the Samsung Galaxy S9. And you do not need a new TV every year to remain cool like you do with status symbol smartphones. Anyone who can afford these phones can easily own a large 4K HDR TV while they occupy their parent's basement.

And at one point, it was assumed the baby boomers would all be hippies the rest of their lives. The majority grow older and change.

Kids watch on their phones because they often have to.
