The last few pages have been GREAT because NOBODY is quoting the trolls, effectively negating their presences here entirely.

Please keep it up, folks!

Also, I wish Dark Force well, but not a chance I'm dropping $40 on GOH/Psycho from Texas.

Might grab BREEDERS, but their prices are beginning to get absurd.

If by “nobody” you mean “at least one person” then you’re absolutely spot-on

And yet you still didn't learn. NOBODY wants to be FORCED to buy a bundle. It's very simple. You set a price for Gates of Hell. THEN you have "if you buy any of these select titles" you get a discount on a bundle. Buy Gates of Hell with one other Blu from list (set price) , by GOH with TWO other Blu's from list(set price), and so on. But let the customer choose among a list of films. No pre set bundles.

Side note. We all know what you're doing. You're purposely bundling brand new (and popular/wanted) films with inventory that you can't move. That's like selling an expensive watch, and saying yeah, but you got to buy these two crappy timex watches as part of the package. And before you say , the other films people really want too... oh really? Take the challenge, and set the sale up like I said. See how many of those "bundles" you sell, when people aren't forced to buy extra blu's. Here's the challenge, add the the entire catalog in the store to the list. Buy GOH, and any other blu from the store (get a discount on the bundle) See what films move and which films don't.
Don't you think you are getting a bit upset over a title that will inevitably be available at a lower price,. unbundled, easily buyable, non slip version down the road?

When was the last time you saw Bill refuse to press more copies of a title that had this much positive buzz & sold this well? I wouldn't be surprised if the non slipped versions were pressed already in a box somewhere awaiting the limited run period to pass. Gotta be cheaper per disc to press 3000 at once than 1000 at a time. Remember the anger over screams of a winter night's limited run? How hard is that to get now? Same will happen with dead pit / GOH. The only thing you might misa out on is the slip

I am sure if you ignore this release for now and come back in 6 months youll be able to get it without a slip for $25-$28. Not worth getting worked up over, all of this angst over a slipcover!

I'd CONSIDER buying Breeders if this sort of thing was set up. There is a few older Code Red titles (one in my signature, and maybe even a Dark Force title or two) that I'd like to get and maybe could be enticed to purchase as part of a make your own bundle deal if it meant savings all around. For me the keys would be... A) That the store remains open for more than 24 hours B) That the sale runs for more than a weekend, C) That there are enough titles to choose from to make it worth my money and D) That it's not ran at a time when every other label is having their own sales (with better prices).

The Bundle idea is not a bad idea, but as you've mentioned I don't want to be forced to buy titles I don't want or already have. I'd have minimal issue dropping $60- $80 (if not possibly more depending on the time of year and what else I have pre-ordered) on Code Red/DF stuff if the prices came out decently and I was able to snag between 3-5 films depending on the titles for those prices.

No games, no jumping through hoops... just "here's the inventory, here's the best we can do on pricing and still make a profit, Buy more, save more, the store will be open all week (or preferably two to account for folks' varying paydays) items will ship out in the order that orders are received and may take up to 3 weeks to ship depending on the amount of orders received."

It's too confusing with order processing and shipping too have the customers choose the bundles. We don't "force" anyone to buy anything. Of course, this is a business and we are trying to maximize sales as much as possible. But speaking of bundles, did you know that a lot of times when we acquire the rights to these movies the studios or rights holders will force us to buy a good movie along with several lesser ones that they want to get rid of? Happens all the time in motion picture sales and licensing. At least we try to put together bundles we think people would be interested in and most of the time they do very well.

It's worth remembering that Dark Force / Code Red run their businesses different than the typical label, on purpose, because that's what works for them. The advice given falls on deaf ears because they don't want to run their business like other labels.

The majority of complaints are due to impatience, it's fairly rare that a code red title isn't eventually available to easily buy for a fairly long stretch of time.

It's one of those take it or leave it things. If you don't want to play the limited edition nonstop F5 game, then simply wait for the non limited edition pressing in a few months. There are plenty of other releases to enjoy in the meantime.

If you do want the limited slips, then all bets are off, all games are on...

Ruined, I so want to tear your last post word from double-talking word, but for the greater good of all who have you on ignore (and I am so close to joining them, haven't ignored anyone yet), I will not since it would mean replying to you.

If the rest of the board wants me to go off on this horseshit, let me know. Otherwise just know, ain't a damn thing changed except maybe BS levels.

Not sure what I said was so inflammatory, it's fairly obvious DF/CR don't want to sell like a typical label does.

If you don't want to join in on the LE insanity, then opt out and get the regular version which will have the same disc in a few months, slipcover only difference. I don't get the controversy. CR/DF make it a game to buy their LE stuff on purpose for years as a business strategy, so no amount of advice or complaints is going to change that IMO.

Almost a good enough plot to make a movie out of!
Now this is a concept that is absolutely brilliant and actually does turn me on. Although I would re-write it to have a much more violent ending to keep in line with the most infamous movie I have done, CHAOS.

No. Just no and not at all....

David is not the fool your post describes. He doesn't want to run his label differently from other labels, because it somehow works for him to have people angry with him all the time. He's working toward and building up to having a label that runs more smoothly, for all concerned. Well-meaning, kindly-offered advice absolutely does not fall on deaf ears at Dark Force. David DeFalco is, admittedly, nothing like me (I find morgues a nice quiet place to eat a salad and check email, for just one example), but, when people tell him they are unhappy with something, not angry, just unhappy, and they explain why, without blaming or shaming, he listens, as well as anyone I've seen, and tries to fix what's broken, like most people.

He has been leaving the store open as much as possible, deliberately, because actual fans of the label have asked him to do so. He has promised purchase limits on limited editions, after realizing that some people were taking advantage of the system, which was previously in place, and he is constantly looking for ways to improve. He's already announced the beginning of clumping releases together, so new releases coincide, allowing for purchasing of more than one title, and bundling new releases in exclusive new-release bundles, without ones you could possibly already have. He's looking into a newsletter. He's looking into all kinds of things. You make it sound like he's down for the count, committed to all the controversy, repeating in cycles.

With the next few releases, we should see dramatic improvements to the way David is doing business. When it comes to the pricing on Gates of Hell, the over-expenditure is unfortunate, but I still think he'll come down a bit on that. Even if he doesn't, he's made it clear to anyone listening, he's actively trying to make his business a success and that means moving toward being a little more like other labels. I love Bill, professionally, and always will, because he's amazing in many ways, but David is moving more in the direction of other label, when it comes to business strategy. Give it a year, wait and see, but don't assume that Dark Force is what Dark Force will be, forever and always.

I see no one has posted this, but DF posted a clip of the upcoming MIRROR, MIRROR release. It actually looks great.

https://www.facebook.com/15854242143...0615?sfns=xmwa

Side note: The whole “straight guy deeply offended by someone even remotely joking that they might be gay or act upon homosexual urges” thing is something I find objectionable and tired. It’s a joke and far worse things have been said and directed at DF and Dave, but that silly comment got a response?

We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell 'em stories that don't go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
