The screenshot of the opening credits actually shows the pumpkin as orange. On the 2018 UHD the pumpkin in the opening credits looks almost gray. It was very desaturated and disappointing.

This looks like a nice little upgrade, although I never had any major issues with the 2013 transfer. It's definitely nice to hear that the original mono is actually the default, and sounds better than the 2014 boxset disc. Honestly though, I still kinda prefer the color timing in the daytime scenes on the 2007 Blu-ray, just because it looks the most like a sunny fall day, while the other discs look more like an April overcast day (this disc clearly has the best look for the night scenes though).

Halloween now says October 11th. Halloween 5 is October 27th. Not the end of the world for me as I know they will arrive at some point. |

I got this as well but I think it's because they never changed the street date on their site after Shout Factory pushed the release date back a week.

Did anyone really look at those caps
Is this the blu-ray that comes with it? Or is this the 4k? If it's the 1080p blu-ray I'd be really worried about this highlight crush 2021 ![]() 2013 ![]() If it's the 4K, then yeah I'm assuming they just didn't take screenshots correctly and it's not properly tonemapped from HDR > SDR so I wouldn't worry about it But if it is the 4K, then I worry about how they got these screenshots when the disc wouldn't be decrypted yet, meaning they may have only gotten screencaps of the raw video without any tonemapping and then edited it after the fact to get it to 'look right'. I don't trust these guys at all. |

Normally I don’t mind either but I was really hoping to marathon the series in 4K this Halloween season as that’s when I traditionally watch at least parts I and II.

People are so hung up on the 1999 DVD's colour timing, yet the "fall" colours on that release don't match any previous version or any version since. It is arguably the most revisionist version of Halloween that exists. Back when the 2013 blu-ray came out and people were up in arms about its "revisionist" colour timing, it was compared to a ton of prior releases on this very forum (Criterion LD, Media VHS, previous DVDs, etc) and it was eventually revealed that the 2013 disc was actually a lot closer to the colour timing of the Criterion LD and earlier VHS copies. Mind you, the level of green in the opening scenes in Haddonfield (that were spot coloured yellow and orange on the 1999 disc) varies slightly from one version to the next, but the 2013 master has a lot more in common with those earlier releases than the 1999 DVD ever did. ~Matt Last edited by Matt89; 09-28-2021 at 08:23 AM. |

Best Buy appears to allow for in-store or curbside pickup today for H1. Tempting, even though I have a pre-order shipping out anytime now.

Seeing the comparison, Scream wins. Transfer looks pretty good with rich colors with a great compromise of what Cundey photographed to what work well in some shots the Divimax transfer, all with his approval.
The result; the perfect transfer. ![]() |
