(Superficial, but) I'm not a fan of the velociraptor biker gang cover. There's so much more they could have done with this.

I hope they offer just the standard packaging for the 3D release--I don't want this horrible round tin packaging which doesn't fit well with rest of my collection. Reminds me of the awful Total Recall DVD packaging (https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Total-Recall-DVD/2619/)

That's how the title is always placed on the spine of European blu-rays and dvds. It's the same on books sold in Europe.

In France and Germany it is common.

Being a JP movie the extras are lacking!
I was expecting a hour long making of at least.
Plus shorter clips.

DVD Empire supposedly has a steelbook for both 2D and 3D copies, but no pictures yet...really surprised that the BIGGEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR is getting some stupid tin instead of a Best Buy steelbook. Furious 7 and Age of Ultron get steelbooks, but this doesn't? Even the Back to the Future trilogy is getting a steelbook...

It's got the same UPC 025192315893 which is the tin edition. I suspect 3D release in the U.S. will be "limited" since there will be no "regular" 3D edition!?

Well damn. I'll either get the normal 3D version at Best Buy or find a region-free 3D steelbook to import...or maybe suck it up and buy the tin...just gotta make sure I get the 3D, that's my top priority.

Oh I guess there is a regular 3D edition then.

There's still well over 70 minutes of content, that's downright lavish compared to what Disney put out on the Marvel movies.

Yeah, almost an hour and a half isn't bad in this day and age. The time when we got hours and hours of special features from major studios is (mostly) history now, unfortunately. Even companies like Criterion have been cutting back.

The most notable thing to me is that we get six minutes of deleted scenes. Aside from those two scenes for The Lost World, we never got to see much deleted footage for these movies in the past, so that's cool.

They really aren't lacking compared to other JP releases. The original JP had a 50 minute making of and JW has a 45 minute one if you add together the two main bonus features. The blurays of the original trilogy did add more with their retrospective features but you can't expect to have that on a new release.

Very few new release films get a large amount of bonus features. JWs bonus features are about right for the industry now. Only thing lacking is a commentary.

Sony did a great job on The Social Network in terms of extras. But yeah. Seems more and more rare these days.

I'm kinda bitter about this. Should have gotten a steelbook. But, I guess I'll have to settle for a t-shirt...

.....
You guys realize even Amazon has the regular non-tin copies up for pre-order alongside the tins, right? Right? You just have to click "see all formats".

http://www.amazon.com/Jurassic-World...1657977&sr=1-6

Only thing I see strange is that you can pre-order the regular 2D but 3D isn't available (but it has a listing).
