3.5 hours. That's a big chunk of the day, not counting the 30 minutes of previews at the start show time when the movie is supposed to start, and then the 30+ minutes each way to the theater. So 5 hours about of the day for me to see this.

It looks better each time I see the trailer, so I'm considering it more.

It's more than a movie, it's a journey through history. Scorsese doesn't cut corners, he puts the knife dead center in the heart of the matter. Time is not important, life is.

I haven't researched the story here, but it sounds like it's based on a true story. The trailers (unless I missed it) don't really hit that point home that it's based on real history, and require the audience to investigate. It's been awhile since I had history class, so I forget most of it unless reminded.

Of course it's based on a true story, and what story it is.
It's part of America's heritage.

Okay, thanks. I don't remember hearing about these villains. I'd have to look up their names to understand more about it. DeNiro in this role, seems like a very evil guy, using people and then eliminating them to take over their land, then using his son to get his way. Corrupt guy, and reminds me of the mafia. The expansion into the west was filled with bloodshed, I remember that.

Yes, De Niro is playing a villain of the worst kind.
And DiCaprio is in his footsteps for his role.

The actors are playing characters who did exist and who committed crimes worst than the worst; for greed, for money, to steal from the Osage people, for the oil under their feet, under their graves, their blood.

Thanks. Okay, this takes place during the more recent 1920s. I was thinking 1800s but they didn't have sports cars till the early 1900s. The 1920s was a time when the Mafia was a major problem for many from what I understand. So this very well could be a form of mafia with DeNiro's character. Okay, it takes place in Oklahoma. DeNiro plays last name Hale, while his "son", DeCaprio, plays last name "Burkhart". Were they related? The movie will reveal it.

The Industrial Revolution was a favorite era for History class, learning about a lot of the horrible working conditions, deaths in factories and rotten meat they'd add food color to back then, but also all of the major advances in technology and transportation, electricity, etc. also during the late 1800s through early 1900s, as this film is set.
Though out west, they were still building up the smaller towns.

I'm glad there will be vehicles in the movie, rather than just horses and carriages.
With a budget of $200 million dollars reported, this has to seriously draw in the crowds on opening weekend. But then again, Apple TV will hope to make up that budget with their pay subscription service.

I think Killers of the Flower Moon is the true real competition in art cinema form to Oppenheimer.

To have these two films in the same year speaks gigantic @ the Oscars 2024, and beyond ...

My post wasn't necessarily criticizing the casting but dang. He looks older than Leo does in the movie.

MY theater is a bit closer, but the situation is excactly the same for me. I really wanna see this, but finding the time and a corresponding showtime for me is gonna be tough.

It's the theater movie experience on a large screen that counts.
Movie directors want us to see their flicks on the big IMAX screens.
Bathrooms are not an issue to hard-core cinephiles. And home isn't the same.

It's the way epics are.

This does potentially look very good indeed, more energy to it than The Irishman but hopefully not so tied to some blockbuster plot as Gangs of Newyork, a chance for a genuine Marty epic again.
