I have been enjoying this show through and through, has it's ups and downs(Episode 3) but I never sat here and thought it was going downhill. It's just Solid all round. Still don't like the Loki and Sylvie "Romance" thing, as much as I like the chemistry between the two and I like the character of Sylvie.

What I really like about this Loki, is that he actually cares and is not playing an angle. The other Loki was playing the game within the game until is death. You could probably say that is what got him killed.

‘Loki’ Marks Biggest Marvel Series Premiere on Disney+

Quote:
The show outdraws 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' and 'WandaVision' in Nielsen's streaming rankings, while 'Sweet Tooth' rises to No. 1 overall.

Loki delivered Marvel’s biggest series premiere on Disney+ yet, according to Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, meanwhile, displaced Lucifer as the top overall streaming title in the week of June 7-13.

The first episode of Loki racked up 731 million minutes of viewing time, significantly higher than the premieres of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (495 million minutes) and WandaVision (434 million) earlier in the year. Loki, which premiered on Wednesday, June 9, also had two extra days to gather viewers as a result of Disney+ switching the release dates for its originals from Fridays to Wednesdays. More than 14 million Disney+ accounts watched the premiere, based on its 52-minute running time.

Sweet Tooth catapulted to the top overall spot in Nielsen’s rankings in its second week. The eight-episode series, based on Jeff Lemire’s comic, grew by better than 80 percent to 1.43 billion minutes of viewing time. That was enough to knock Lucifer out of the No. 1 perch, though the series still drew more than 1 billion minutes of viewing time. The latter fell by about 45 percent from 1.84 billion minutes the previous week.

NBC drama Manifest scored strong viewing with its third-season debut on Netflix, drawing 1.11 billion minutes of viewing time for the week. (NBC canceled the Warner Bros.-produced series on June 15.) Disney+’s Raya and the Last Dragon, whose premium window lifted at the end of May, spent a second week atop the movie charts with 953 million minutes of watch time.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries, and currently only include Amazon, Disney+, Hulu and Netflix in its rankings.

Richard E. Grant killed it this week. Though as great as he was he didn’t quite top Alligator Loki.

I think it's another Loki who's hunting down multiverse Lokis.

Everything about the TVA is a lie! There are no "variants" but multiverse versions. A variant is supposedly someone who deviates from the timeline, yet we have a female Loki and a gator Loki? They didn't deviate, they're from other realities!

And the fact that the TVA has gone after just Loki and not Cap or Gamora, points toward another Loki whose "glorious purpose" is to hunt down and kill all other Lokis.

The one mystery is that one prisoner that was there when Loki arrived at the TVA, and the same prisoner there when they took Sylvie. Could that be the other Loki? Or is that Kang?

One episode to go!

I agree with your assessment 100%! I mean, why else would the TVA seem to be so concerned with hunting down and eliminating multiverse Lokis. The Void at the end of time was completely filled with nothing but Lokis. The only exception would be people who interacted with Lokis or became self-aware, thereby becoming a threat to the TVA itself, such as in Mobius’ case.

Lokis seem to have an inherent desire to rule. What better throne to rule than the one at the end of all time? Loki said it himself in the first episode with regards to the TVA, “Is this the greatest power in the universe? A superior Loki would’ve already achieved this and therefore mandated that all other Lokis be captured and processed thereby eliminating the most serious threat to his throne… another Loki.

Thematically this would make sense too, as our main Loki seems to be on a hero’s journey. Confronting Kang wouldn’t complete his story arc, as Kang obviously has a bigger role to play in the MCU, so he can’t be introduced and defeated in one episode of a television series season finale. No, it would make more since for our Loki to confront and defeat a “superior” Loki who represents the absolute worst attributes of himself and has instead succeeded in realizing his greatest desire to seize power and rule the universe. This would bring our character's arc full circle. I don’t believe our Loki desires to rule anymore anyway, as he already stated to Sylvie that he didn’t know what he wanted to do after bringing down the TVA, but maybe they could figure it out together.

Also, I think that prisoner in the first episode that was in line at the TVA when Loki arrived is actually another Loki. Think about it… just before he was pruned, he said, “Don’t you know who my father is?” I believe he was referring to Odin.

Lastly, I’ve seen images of a King Loki (not to be confused with President Loki) in one of the earlier trailers promoting the show which hasn’t appeared yet…. hmm, could this King Loki be the superior Loki ruling the throne at the end of all time? Me thinks so.

Philadelphia Experiment
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Experiment

Quote:
The Philadelphia Experiment is an alleged military experiment supposed to have been carried out by the U.S. Navy at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, sometime around October 28, 1943. The U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Eldridge was claimed to have been rendered invisible (or "cloaked") to enemy devices.
Quote:
The conjecture then claims that the equipment was not properly re-calibrated, but that in spite of this, the experiment was repeated on October 28, 1943. This time, Eldridge not only became invisible, but it disappeared from the area in a flash of blue light and teleported to Norfolk, Virginia, over 200 miles (320 km) away. It is claimed that Eldridge sat for some time in view of men aboard the ship SS Andrew Furuseth, whereupon Eldridge vanished and then reappeared in Philadelphia at the site it had originally occupied. It was also said that the warship went approximately ten minutes back in time.

Loki episode 5 really blows it out of the water. Who really stole the show was "Alligator Loki", trying to eat Old Loki's arm. I was laughing so hard. The first real hit for Disney+ since The Mandalorian. Pretty damn funny.

I must admit I have been rather lukewarm on Disney+ MCU original programming thus far, but this week's installment of Loki was a home run and the best single episode from any of these series' so far. IMO. And man.... that Loki "Classic" guy needs his own spinoff. Hopefully with Gator as a sidekick.

I don't know if it was on purpose, but the alligator biting the guy's hand off seemed like a shout out to Peter Pan. Looking it up further, Tom Hiddleston voiced a pre-bite Captain Hook in Pirate Fairy.

You're forgetting that the TVA claims those were pre-destined events to have happened.

2012 Loki stealing the Tesseract, escaping was not in the Sacred Timeline, thus creating a deviant.

Kid Loki killing Thor also deviated from the Sacred Timeline. As did Classic Loki getting away/surviving Thanos.

And yes, while Sylvie and Alligator Loki are from other realities, they too, deviated from their timelines, bringing attention to the TVA.

Sacred Timeline according to who? The Timekeepers? Turns out they weren’t real. The TVA? Their agents don’t even know they’re so-called “variants.” I would caution against putting your faith in an organization that’s already proven itself to be an untrustworthy and unreliable source of information.

My suspicion is that the Ms. Minutes PSA video that explained the meaning of the Sacred Timeline is merely propaganda designed to project a false sense of complacency among TVA workers and give the appearance that the organization is virtuous and operating in the best interest of the so-called Sacred Timeline.

I theorize that “the man behind the curtain” is just another Loki, a superior Loki, if you will, who has already overthrown the TVA in order to seize the ultimate power in the universe. This “King Loki” then conceived this whole charade of hunting down Loki variants in order to eliminate the threat of another Loki from ever challenging his throne. Cause as Mobius says, “Loki’s gonna Loki.” That's my working theory anyways... I guess we'll all find out the truth next week!
