3 is my favorite of the series. Very touching as well as best 3D of the trilogy. |

I just watched September Storm and Harmony Lane in 3D ![]() Harmony Lane looked super crystal clear, the Swan Lake bit went on a bit and it was a real shame that what looked like the best 3D sequence could only be shown flat 2D, but overall it was an interesting short with nice depth and layering. September Storm was a pleasure to watch with more pop-out than I was expecting. The 3D was was subtly done, maximising the available space without sticking anything in your eye. The dance scene was one of the best I've ever seen in terms of a crowd of people all being clearly separate in space with real volume. Cinematography was classy throughout - only when the director wanted you to focus on the actors did the background go out of focus but depth was maintained and volume and separation were impressive. The boat had a real volume to it, with the rigging often providing a useful depth reference and the cabin space truly represented dimensionally. Great underwater photography too, this is what 3D is all about. In 2D this is a lazy Sunday afternoon movie I wouldn't have bought but in 3D it's just so immersive that you'd have to be a fool not to watch it in that format. My expectations were well exceeded and I was proud to see my name in the credits, shame it had to come down to Kickstarter but if that's what it takes I'll put my money down every time. Vintage 3D is just so much more rewarding than modern 3D, like vinyl compared to CD... |

Big wave of British and German 3D discs came in.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Was able to check them out when they came in (except for Despicable Me). It's all region-free. Alice in Wonderland and The Green Hornet seem to be half-and-half. Some scenes are good, some aren't. Alice looks at its best with some of the pop-out effects and CGI, but depth wasn't very impressive. Green Hornet has some cool parts where foregrounds and backgrounds show substantial separation, but outside of the action scenes it's not very consistent. Kung Fu Panda 2 looks awesome. Maybe even better than the first one, if not the same. Excellent depth levels, characters and objects look like they have volume, and it just looks great overall. I'm glad to have all three in 3D now. Monsters Inc, I don't even know if it's native 3D or not (I'm assuming not), but I'm quite happy with it. Good levels of depth and volume. The ending chase scene with all the doors is especially fantastic. Pretty decent batch, glad to add them to my existing 2D editions. Right now, there's only a handful of movies left I need to upgrade, and a few I'm on the fence about. Last edited by Al_The_Strange; 02-26-2017 at 02:35 PM. |

It is mostly native 3D, stereo CGI re-rendered from the original digital art assets.

![]() ![]() I actually like this one best of the Captain America movies. Some solid 3D thru out. ![]() I soooo wish I had seen this in the theater. Shot in native 3D that is just beautiful. ![]() I grew up on Star Wars, and with my love of 3D thrown into it, is pure joygasmness. I feel kinda like a kid in the candy store when mixing the two together. ![]() I had been wanting to watch this again for some time. After hearing about the remake being in the works, it was definitely due time. Don't know how many more times I'll see it before the live action/CGI version (will there even be any live action?) comes out in 2019. This is certainly one of my fav classic Disney movies. The 3D may not be perfect but is enjoyable for what it is. |

Watched Doctor Strange 3D with the wife.
There's a blurb on the box about how this movie 'demands to be seen in 3D'. After watching, I'd say that's no exaggeration. Lots of cool IMAX 3D here. There's even a neat trick they play with the Target 3D packaging, very clever. |

I'll always praise 1.85 3D as a very good start, you can always boost the 3D on your display as well.
By comparison, we get CG animated movies like Ratchet and Clank which get pushed out heavily letterboxed (to reduce render expenses) and in 2D-only. Now that's a waste... |

Had a tornado warning the other day, so I decided to watch The Wizard of Oz with my visiting parents. They were amazed at the quality of the 3D. (They hadn't seen a 3D movie since the 60s).

Just received:
Doctor Strange 3D: I got it one day early from Disney which is nice! I thought I would be disappointed by the packaging because it isn't lenticular but I was pleasantly surprised! The slipcover is transparent plastic and contains only part of the image. It is completed by the bluray insert and the disc itself all three of which come together to complete the front cover art! It doesn't feel or look cheap at all which is what I was afraid of. The artwork on the back of the slop is akin to a comic book and faces all different directions as a nod to the film itself. AND THERE IS A LOOSE LENTICULAR INSERT INSIDE!!! Very nice indeed! I already reviewed the movie but as a short recap, I really liked it! LOADS of action and fantastically choreographed fight scenes. The costumes and sets were very well and and the movie makes great use of color throughout. This is a movie made for 3D and it adds a lot of depth to the inter-dimensional worlds and backgrounds Doctor Strange is teleported tonsnd through and I can't image the movie would be nearly as immersive without it. In fact, if I was given an opportunity to see this in 2D I would pass (even though it is an interesting storyline without the special effects). Dolphin Tale 3D I did not know existed on 3D Blu until I saw it on page 1 of this thread. It has a nice Lenti slipcover and I will review it once I've watched it. Asterix and the Mansion of the Gods 3D was funny and used 3D effectively in certain scenes but I did not feel it was consistent. I don't remember any pop outs and the 3D was relatively minor. For some reason, it took me a while to settle into the humor of the film and I was fairly bored for about the first half. Most of it is dry British humor (although I believe this was a French film)? I almost stopped watching it but I'm glad I didn't because I ended up enjoying it! |
