I get the feeling that initially they said 15th, but they want to start this asap so it's just your next billing cycle now. So mine might start august 10th, but the other guy says it's still 15th so I don't know..

That used to work for me, local cinema I frequent upgraded a few months ago to recliners and reserved seating, so, now that it has caught on, people are advance ticketing on their phones.

...the recliners are extra wide, there are much fewer rows of seats to accommodate and give room to walk past people that are reclined, there are probably half as many seats to pick from (or less).

lol I'm not saying it's the 15th. I'm saying that on everyone's billing date, whether it is on or after August 15th, is when they will switch.

You will still be fine on August 10, and then you will switch over on September 10.

Just forget the date August 15 and think of it as September 10

That's exactly like AMC's and Cinemarks here now. The seats are about half as many due to the recliners and I typically have to get seats 2-3 hours in advance of showtimes if I want to get my preferred spots. Fan Screenings and Big Movies like Infinity War I have to buy them 2-3 days in advance.

I have always hated reserved seating. You should be able to find a spot and claim it. If you are going to do reserved seating, fine give us those nice recliners but if you are going to just have normal seats with new features then FU! That's what a near by Regal did on Friday....convert all their screens (use to be RPX only) to reserved seats. I guess they got tired of Screen Hoppers.

Well you still claim a spot with reserved seating. You just do it before you get in the theater.

The near by cinemark made it so you can not see who is sitting behind or infront of you...so like your row is isolated... crazy.

Come to my part of NJ. Most shows are booked days in advance at any decent theater.

Going to the movies has become less spontaneous for me. However, unless it's the big tent pole pictures, you really don't need to reserve ticket that far in advance if at all. We decided to see Equalizer 2 the day before for a Tuesday ($5 day). Then on Tuesday, I had to cancel and reorder for a later time and had no issues.

I love reserving seats. I don't miss having to get to the movie theater, 30-45 before show time to get a prime seat. It doesn't help when my wife is notoriously late.

I'd rather have twice the seating options than Cinemark's recliners (which are practically useless anyway if you're 6'4")

Dude, some of us don't live in a big city with a theater on every block. I have to drive an HOUR to get to the nearest theater. People are walking up to the box office buying tickets while I'm still in my truck. Totally worth that extra dollar to avoid a sellout or having to sit in the front row.

For what movies though? Do you have to buy tickets 3 days in advance for Blindspotting? Eighth Grade? Sorry To Bother You? First Reformed? Leave No Trace? etc etc

People are still just sitting where they want to for the most part. Once in the theater they just pick any seat. Once the ticket is torn, it goes in their pocket or gets tossed in trash. I have had to toss many a person out of my claimed seat. They just get up and move over to the next empty seat. Too many people are just too used to sitting where they want..

Especially those that come in when the previews are playing, or right when the movie starts. I swear they should have a rule... 'If you're not in your seat before the previews start then you either get ticket refunded, or wait till the next showing.'

you're not understanding me. I think the other guy is right, they started this yesterday. not the 15th. so if they started it yesterday, it means everyone will start when they get billed. Not just on or after the 15th. so there's a good chance mine will start on august 10th, if they did indeed already start the 3 per month system. and that would explain why they changed the august 15th date to saying your next billing cycle.

It was Carmike. I only remember because they played that damn promo video before every movie.

They have this at Paragon Odyssey in Minnesota.. well CMX now. A divider between aisles is amazing.

MoviePass Films is set to go into production with their first self produced movie, the Bruce Willis film "10 Minutes Gone" (could also be the name of a movie about how long eligible showings appear on the app). Do hope the checks have already cleared for sake of people involved in the movie.
They made a movie about Bruce Willis' contractual obligations in direct-to-video movies that overplay the size of his role? He shoots all his scenes in 10 minutes or else he's gone.
