Having Scott Buck as the showrunner, I think there's a better chance of them milking it successfully. Judging from the episodes he worked on, I trust him more.
He also wrote a few episodes of Six Feet Under, which is a lot better than someone who worked on 24, Dark Angel, and Beverly Hills, 90210. So since Scott Buck is the new showrunner, is Chip Johannessen involved in the show at all, or is he completely gone from the show? I just read he was fired from Moonlight also |

I wasn't necessarily saying it was going to suck, I'm just generally not a fan of stretching any show out for such a long time. Depending on the basic concept of the show my acceptance of it may vary. Mad Men going 6 seasons seems acceptable to me, whereas at this point I'm not particularly fond of the idea of The Walking Dead or Breaking Bad for instance doing the same thing.

Well it could suck, because shows that go longer than they should end up going in that direction. Take Weeds for example, the first three seasons were the best (to most people) then a lot changed in 4-6. It's not as good as it used to be, but it still does well and as long as that happens, they'll continue until there's nothing left, or when they think it's time to end the show.
Mad Men is gonna be 7 seasons and quite honestly I think that's what Dexter will be. Seems like a lot of shows are ending at the 7th season. Is it official that Breaking Bad is going to be 5+ seasons? I haven't read anything about it since I haven't seen season 3 yet |

Obviously the show's also a source of income to a lot of people, that is understandably something that plays a part in those decisions as well... So we'll see. |

Hopefully the new showrunner will make up for all the stupid crap the last showrunner put forth. The whole concept of Dexter and his "intern" versus Team Eli Stone in the wake of the Trinity/Rita aftermath had a ton of potential that Chip completely failed to deliver on.
If you want to start a Dexter season off with a bang, have Deb find out about him in the first episode, not the last one. Then you have your story arc for the season regardless of who Dexter's nemesis will be. |

Since Scott Buck is now the showrunner, I think there's a good chance of the show going in a better direction. Chip Johannessen didn't have any previous work similar to Dexter, whereas Scott Buck worked on some of the best episodes of Dexter and Six Feet Under.
I'd love if Deb found out early on or at least in the middle of the season. I don't want to wait another season or two until she finds out |

I loved seasons 1 and 4. Seasons 3 and 5 were my least favorite but in no way did I hate or dislike either one. Usually when a show starts, either the first season is the best or it's the worst and then gets better. In this case it was the best so it was hard to top. Although there weren't a lot of kills in season 4, there were a lot of intense moments. 'Hungry Man' was one of the best episodes ever. And 'Dex Takes a Holiday' with him going to Zoey's house to find out if she killed her husband and child

Showtime President David Nevins gave some face time to TV Line at Thursday’s 4th Annual Television Academy Honors in Beverly Hills and talked openly about what's to come for 'Dexter.' He said that the show will "in some ways" return to the style of the early seasons and a storyline that gets back to the character's roots. He also said the Dexter and Deb dynamic will be under a microscope and will evolve and change throughout the course of the season. Could this be the season that Deb finds out about Dexter's dark passenger?
Nevins also revealed that Dexter will not be facing off against a singular bad guy ala the Ice Truck Killer or Trinity Killer. He stopped short of saying who Dexter's enemies would be, but did convey that there's an interesting story that will be "cast very interestingly, but it's not exactly that one person." |

Everything completely reset itself at the end of season 5. Quinn's trying to piece together Dexter and Trinity Killer and then changes his mind because he's in love with Deb? Deb solved the case and everything is closed even though they never actually found Jordan Chase? And it's obvious Quinn is hiding something by refusing to talk to the cops, but because the blood on his shoe isn't RoboCop's, everything is okay with him too. Never mind how stupid it was that LaGuerta notices one small drop of blood on the show of a HOMICIDE DETECTIVE and suddenly he's a prime suspect.
Also, Batista and LaGuerta were completely wasted and their scenes together in season 5 brought the show to a grinding halt. The story of Dexter and Lumen was fine -- it went where it needed to go. But there should've been a lot more done with the fact that Rita had just been murdered and how Dexter responds to that. Of course, Quinn was sleeping with Trinity's daughter who killed Keith Carradine and then herself, and he was right into Deb's pants and Mrs. Brandon Routh was ever mentioned again. |

Quinn was the last person to talk to Liddy, happened to have blood on his shoe and no one knew why they talked to each other. It's kinda understandable to consider him a suspect Lumen was his way of dealing with Rita's death, especially since he didn't know how to act. She knew his secret, they were both damaged people so they could relate to one another. He wanted to help get revenge on the people that raped her to make up for not protecting Rita and also getting the chance to kill again. |
