Yeah but confirmation is always what talks around here... and now, we finally have it...

...although it still doesn't make that ugly UK cover any more attractive

It's not unheard of for extras to be different, or missing, on UK discs.

Universal UK may have considered a Spanish version, in a country that does not have a large population of native Spanish speakers, unnecessary.

I suspect that the reason the Spanish version has been missed off the specs on Play.com, Amazon UK. etc is because the people pasting the information in have thought the same.

I do prefer the US covers a bit over the UK covers.

Waiting to see if the UK version is confirmed to be identical and all movies and extras turn out to be compatible in the US. Then, if the prices don't get closer as we get close to the release date, I may cancel the pre-order of the US version and order the UK.

Have never seen Spanish Dracula, so a few questions. Is it true this was shot at same locations as Dracula, during night? Also will it be in 1080 P considering its just added as a bonus feature ?

Same sets location, costumes, and some of the same staff. Not necessarily at night, but at times the "English" crew was not using them. I believe they may have also been filming in other languages as well, as this was a common practice for early talkies which they felt had a big foreign maket.

yes, same set with different actors. And it has been said by many reviewers that the Spanish version is shot better and uses the lighting much better than the Lugosi version. As far as 1080p I believe so as that was remastered as well

The picture of the box on Amazon.co.uk says "Artwork TBC" which I think means "To Be Confirmed."

So far, so good on the UK set. If the special features all play just fine on my Region A player, I'm in. Love the American cover, but not to the tune of an additional 60 bucks.

I'm keeping my Legacy sets with all the sequels and special features too, but if Universal decides to start releasing the sequels in subsequent seasons, it would be great to have everything play properly on this set.

Once work comes through on that, I'd certainly import.

Edit: 'word'

Thought I'd share this here, as you folks will likely appreciate it.

I just ordered one of these Bride of Frankenstein model kits, and it looks like it's gonna be truly bad-ass....

This company has been doing some cool Universal Monsters kits for a while, now...

http://www.moebiusmodels.com/

....and look what's labeled as "coming soon"....I'll definitely be getting one!

All of my Universal Classic Monster Blu-rays are on pre-order at Amazon right now.

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein is on pre-order, along with a $6 copy of Gods and Monsters so I can get free shipping. I would rather pay an extra couple bucks and get a product then pay for shipping.

Then I have my Universal Classic Monsters The Essential Collection pre-ordered on another order so that I can get my Abbott & Costello when it comes out and then my big box when that comes out.

It's going to be a great October full of HD monsters!

Yeah, I intend to do a big HD Monsters fest, going chronologically from the original Phantom, through the box-set and end with A+C Meet Frankenstein. Hoping we'll have more sequels to throw in next year!

THIS IS NOT NEWS, just speculation, but I will make a prediction.

Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection Vol. 2
Werewolf of London
Dracula's Daughter
Son of Dracula
Son of Frankenstein
The Ghost of Frankenstein
Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man
House of Frankenstein
House of Dracula
She-Wolf of London

Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection Vol. 3
The Mummy's Hand
The Mummy's Tomb
The Mummy's Ghost
The Mummy's Curse
The Invisible Man Returns
Invisible Woman
Invisible Agent
Invisible Man's Revenge
Revenge of the Creature
The Creature Walks Among Us

Of course these will probably be smaller sets and a lot cheaper, with no 50 pages books or anything like that. They will probably only be a couple discs each with more then one movie on one disc, but hopefully no flippers.

I would be okay with that.

These kits look amazing, wish I had talents to make them but I don't. They would look very good in a home theater room

I honestly think that if Universal intended the, let's face it, weaker sequels to be released on Blu-ray, then they would pair them with the better-known movies. You know, as anthology releases, as they did with the DVD releases. I don't think that those movies will ever be released on Blu-ray.

I'm inclined to agree with you on that one... however if all they're doing is grading the transfer they already have to look even better... then they might visit those titles. Here's hoping for the latter.
