Every time I doubt Marvel can make something translate well to the big screen I see a trailer or teaser and get proven wrong.

I will not doubt anymore

I really hope this does well at the box office so it can allow Marvel to explore more less popular characters.

The preview footage looks fantastic. Well as fantastic as shaky cam footage can look.

Well, this is one film i won't be watching. I was hoping for something a bit more serious. Looks like a kids movie or a Hangover type hybrid thing.

Biggest question for me is whether Batista is just a serviceable muscle guy or actually part of the team (in terms of story and lines etc.)

It looks exactly like all of Marvel's other films in tone...I'm not sure what you were expecting.

He'll probably have a role like Ray Park in X-Men.

It looks absolutely amazing. Anyone who doesn't think so is looking for the wrong movie. To be honest, I'm looking more forwad to this than I am the next Avengers.

That being said, I am really excited for this one... probably moreso than Thor 2 or Cap 2. I was a doubter when it was first announced - I had never even heard of them before that - but the director, cast, and what I can make out of the footage really has me pumped!
It is an exclusive showing for the die hard fans who go to the expos. It isn't quite as special if everyone in the world gets to see it (I imagine, maybe Walt can speak more to it). Plus, the only people that this will be a first impression for (as far as camera phone goes) are the very few of us who really seek it out and we should all be able to filter out the medium.

I am in the same boat: I had never heard of them, but I was interested and a bit excited. Once Chris Pratt was announced, I knew it would be pure awesome.

It really does except that it looks ... a bit more epic to me. It just looks like a really really cool movie among cool movies.

Maybe. What he said in regards to learning how to be better from the other actors made me think he might have a decent amount. I could be wrong.

I know he and Chris Pratt will have a good amount of screen time together according to the man himself.

Cool. I have a feeling they'll work well together. I'm just dying to see this. I have watched the leaked footage about a dozen times.

Much like all the Marvel teams - xmen, avengers, etc - there have been many different characters over the course of time. They pick the ones they wanna go with, and perhaps we'll see others in the future.

No way! Drax is a major character he's not gonna just be a physical presence with 2 lines of dialogue.

From my Marvel reading experience, Drax has long periods of silence, at times, between statements. Especially when he's more "dim", as some writers have written him through the years. Heck, he's been around for forty years or so. His characters' gone through some big changes.

Vin Diesel Talks Playing A Talking Tree

Quote:
By Garth Franklin Tuesday August 13th 2013 11:19PM

The casting of Vin Diesel as the voice of the talking tree Groot in Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy" has had many scratching their heads. Fans were hoping he would play big baddie Thanos, or the robot Ultron in the upcoming "The Avengers" sequel.

Instead he went for a relatively smaller part which involves him only saying a few lines. So why that character? He tells The L.A. Times:

"I'm an actor. I can do whatever the … I want. As an actor, not everything has to be the most obvious choice. And sometimes, the best thing you can do — as far as Steven Spielberg and his advice — is to defy expectations.

So if everybody thinks you’re going to go for this one thing and you flip it entirely and go for the strangest Marvel character, it’s interesting. And when something is interesting, it’s inspiring.

'Guardians' is halfway through filming, and Vin says scheduling was also a big factor in his decision:
That’s the thing — I’m so busy. The audience wanted Vin and Marvel, Vin and Marvel. But I’m too busy to do a six-month role. So what Marvel came up with was really interesting. … I am watching a social wave influence and in some ways guide their thinking.

Not sure how you can tell that from 30 seconds of footage.

And all of the Marvel Movies include some humor. See The Avengers.

I don't see where you're getting "Kids Movie" or "Hangover Type" film from this?
