Just watched it. This is easily Van Damme's best film since JCVD. High production values, very good, close and intimate cinematography. Very similar to the way The Wrestler was shot. Van Damme's acting is very solid, as is everyone else's. The plot is tight and simple. Very focused direction, too. But don't be fooled! This is no action movie. It is a very dark, depressing and slow paced drama with small elements of a Thriller. There is very little action and no fancy choreography. They were going for realistic action, fights and violence. It fits Van Damme's age perfectly! The Bouncer is definitely not your typical Van Damme movie, which might be disappointing for some people. But I am grateful for that as I consider this movie to be a big win and a highlight in Van Damme's filmography!

As is usually the case in movies where he appears briefly. More Dolph is the best solution, most of the time.

Agreed. People need to accept that he will never make another Bloodsport or Kickboxer again. Sadly, that's what most people and fans want and still expect from him.
