Underwhelmed to say the least.
Simple is nice but cheap is something else when you consider smaller studios putting out product for lesser known films. Shameful.
... and those menus that harken back to early days of DVD YIKES!
And talk about bad decisions - last year for the THE EXORCIST ANNIVERSARY they release the same 'ol edition of the film in a way no one really needed or wanted. Instead they should have released this set with that book as an extra since this is so plain.
Meanwhile if some company like Anchor Bay, or Shout Factory had the rights for these films the bonus materials would have been better, not to mention the packaging.
Oh well, hopefully the masters for the sequels are good.
Anchor Bay would have messed this up. They don't care about the movies they have. Anchor Bay is not what they used to be.

Anchor Bay is one of the worst studios out there next to Universal. They dont give a crap about their catalog titles and Universal ' s are DNR 'd to hell and back. At least Warner 's uses decent masters most of the time.

Unfortunately, today's Anchor Bay is in name only and doesn't resemble anything it once was prior to the acquisitions.

We don't have to worry about Scream Factory becoming an "Anchor Bay isn't what they used to be" 10 years from now. Not unless some mega conglomerate buys them out. Then we'll be bemoaning them: "Scream Factory isn't what they used to be" . I hate what's happened to AB but they did give us many great releases back in the day. They had their time.

I was a consultant for Anchor Bay years ago when they were the fore runners in DVD Special Editions. They have fallen since they have linked up with Starz Ent. It is Starz who changed them and they now have to answer to. As soon as they become involved their were too many cooks in the kitchen - all fro Starz who thought themselves the big shots and infected Anchor Bay with their way of what should be released and how. They ruined the Anchor Bay that was.

Are the discs for the 1st movie identical to the original 2010 BD release or are they slightly different i.e. Had the 40th Anniversary extras added?

No there the exact same discs as the original 2010 release we all already own. I was abit dispoint since i thought they'd use the 40AE ones.

For the price, I'm not sure why people are complaining about aesthetics.
