Dude, it's Die Hard. What are you talking about? If anything, just leave that Black Panther for some other time.

I'll choose precedence of a movie I do not own in any fashion vs a movie I own in 3 formats already. Even if it is a classic like Die Hard.

I'm sure I won't be able to resist it on the 15th though.

Still no sign of pre-ordering this anywhere in Europe besides Zavvi and Amazon Germany, I am this close of importing the US release.

It is just plain weird. UK UHD pre-orders are kind of a shambles. With both France and Germany getting their releases, I'd be surprsised (ha! even auto correct couldn't fix that one) if Fox doesn't come through in the UK with a wider release. If ever a movie was going to sell well in all countries, it's gotta be Die Hard right? I do hate Zavvi with a passion though and would rather import than give them ma monies. Short version - I had a beef with them in which it took two months of back and forth messages to refund me a £1.30 P&P fee. They suck. Never again.

I've never ordered with Zavvi but I've read enough horror stories to stay far, far away from them.

France release is a week later than the US and it has French text, German has German text ofcourse and there's still no sign of a Benelux release. If there's still no news on another European release by the middle of next week, I'll import the US disc.

Sounds like a plan . I'll be doing the same and will buy Braveheart at the same time.

LOL I have just bought Braveheart like literally 2 minutes ago on eBay.

A bit more expensive than usual but I don't mind, it's also the only way for me to get this.

After some prompting from me this morning HMV now have this listed in the UK. £19.99 too so cheaper than Zavvi.

I miss HMV. Their prices were always way too high but they were the only store that carried boutique labels. Shame they closed in Canada. Now all we have is Best Buy and Walmart.

Looks like no Steelbook here in the UK either, not that I am that bothered myself as it seems to be a bag of balls.

Don’t get me wrong, this is the greatest action movie of all time, and it’s not going anywhere in my preorder cart, but...

Anyone else have a sinking feeling about this release? Zero buzz, zero reviews 12 days out, no Atmos (I personally don’t care as I still only have 5.1, but it just shows the overall lazy attitude afforded this release), no remaster on the blu that’s included (again, lazy), no touting of...really anything regarding this CLASSIC’S 4K restoration whatsoever?? I mean, I don’t and have never understood why Fox treats this movie like such garbage. They crank out the same disc time and time and time again...no fanfare, just endless repackages. Why? It’s one of their flagship titles. Surely they know that. I don’t know, I truly hope this blows me away, I just feel like the upgrade is going to be marginal... I’ll be THRILLED to be wrong.

Well, it's as you say: there are no new bonus features, no Atmos track despite one allegedly existing, not even a remastered Blu to sweeten the pot for the future-proofers. No Dolby Vision either but as it's Fox then that was to be expected.

So in most regards this really is a release for the hardcore Die Hard fan - guilty as charged - but TBH even I'm not expecting anything special with regards to the one thing that this release has going for it: the new 4K transfer. I think it'll look good but not great and that'll just fuel the lack of buzz even more.

I may pick up the regular BD since I don't own any version and I'm not 4K ready. I've only seen this on VHS and on TV so anything to me is a improvement over VHS. If its still $ I may swing by Target and see if they have any on my way to work. I won't tell my wife as she hates me buying movies all the time..

Sincerely though, a new 65" OLED would change everything. You're in the 4K forum. Buy the UHD combo and pick up a legit panel.

Hate to say it again but I just feel that this movie aint no 4K stunner material. You guys are hardcore fans with intensely biased attitudes towards it. My call some time ago about this (clearly evidenced by how Fox is treating a 30th anniverary title ) is holding more water day by day.
