I just finished watching Avengers: Infinity War on Blu-ray. This was my second time seeing the film after watching it at the theater on release day, and I enjoyed it just as much this time as...

I’m grateful that Marvel is continuing to include special features at all for these releases but they’ve mainly felt like glorified fluff pieces that yield little insight into the actual filmmaking process for some years now. Phase One had phenomenal supplements but everything was scaled back significantly once Disney took full control of the home video releases from Paramount.

BTW wasn’t this release supposed to come with a special 10 years of Marvel bonus disc? I see that it was apparently included with the Japanese 4K set. What gives?

That disc was in the mock-up photos for BB's Steelbook and Target's exclusive but was scrapped sometime before release.

Many people like myself think they split the featurettes that would've comprised that disc onto MoviesAnywhere across the MCU up to Doctor Strange (save for Incredible Hulk). They popped up right around the time Infinity War came to Blu, I believe. Check your digital copies there of each MCU film; they run about 3 minutes each (so had they been on disc, they'd be about 40 minutes with a "Play All" function) and can be found right at the top of each supplemental section:

Iron Man - "I Am Iron Man"
Iron Man 2 - "Black Widow"
Thor - "The God of Thunder"
Captain America: The First Avenger - "The First Avenger"
The Avengers - "Hulk Smash"
Iron Man 3 - "War Machine"
Thor: The Dark World - "The God of Mischief"
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - "The Winter Soldier"
Guardians of the Galaxy - "Some Unspoken Thing"
Avengers: Age of Ultron - "Scarlet Witch"
Ant-Man - "Ant-Man"
Captain America: Civil War - "Vision"
Doctor Strange - "The Sorcerer Supreme"

I watched the Infinity War blu-ray video extras today and it felt like there were more movie clips in the running time than interview or behind-the-scenes footage.

Yeah, I don’t get why the bonus features feel like pre-release featurettes advertising the movie (and others in the series). I don’t need an ad for the movie, I already bought it!

Maybe if we're lucky, Endgame will have some sort of decent special features included. I mean, come on, this is the end of the first 11 years of the MCU! We deserve something of substance.

Anything truly substantial will be saved for either a Phase 3 or Infinity Saga boxset.

The last time the MCU had decent special features was before Disney took over. Most pre-Disney films had features about the comics, their creators and storylines and real making-ofs. The house of mouse charges the most for main stream films with the least extras

Saw it in the theater & just watched the BD in preparation for part 2 coming out very soon.

RE Audio:

Yes, not very good.

I have a very good AVR & Speakers & typically listen to action BDs @ -10dB setting. I have a dB meter I used to calibrate & usually @ -10dB dialogue is 60-65 dB & gunfire, action scenes ~ 90dB & loudest explosions 103-105 dB.
That feels immersive to me.

With this BD, I had to crank up the volume to -7.5 dB to get dialogue low 60s & the loudest action scenes with explosions were ~ 93-95 dB.

When I next watch it, I may try volume @ -5.0dB.

I wonder if Disney compressed the audio track & limited dynamic range?

Lossless is supposed to be uncompressed.

Or maybe they limited the loudest parts for some reason?

Totally agree.

I have been rewatching the regular Blu-ray in anticipation of what was supposed to be Infinity War: Part 2, and have to concur about the audio. It's another "Disney dropped the ball" moment, but it's better than the atrocious audio on Age of Ultron (yet not as good as the DTS-HD Master Audio tracks on Civil War and perhaps even Winter Soldier).

To be totally honest, every time I watch this disc (the 1080p Blu-ray) I can't help but be underwhelmed even by the VIDEO transfer -- the colors look a bit de-saturated to the point there are moments they look flat, and there seems to be a bit of a "washed-out" look to the encode. From what I understand, the 4K release was a stunner, but at the time this came out we didn't have 4K hardware yet (a display and disc player).

The original two-disc version did, anyway.
