If you are a die hard fan of TTC, care even about minute upgrades, and have plenty of dough to spend, then yes I'd say mistake cancelling pre-order

Watched an hour of it ... will finish the rest soon

Film rating: A+ ... overall, still holds up nicely in general

4k transfer first impression:
Resolution benefit: B+ ... minor upgrade over the HD version, which is still good
Dynamic range: A ... nicely handled
WCG: A+ ... more nuances

A good movie is a good movie.
If it happens to be derived from scripture, then cool.
Considering a lot of the biggest and/or most popular movies these days are comic book superheroes and based on true stories, I can't imagine refusing to watch a movie because of it being based on a book written thousands of years ago.

Like you said, a good movie is a good movie. I've loved this flick since watching it for the first time in high school and I am not at all religious either.

I was very happy with it until I paused it, and the time stamp bar is not removable from image. I thought Paramount had stopped doing that. Unless I'm missing something... Tried arrowing out, tried exit, and also waited... It's not going anywhere...

Oh, I dislike that. I guess it could be worse, like the original BD of The Little Mermaid where you have an animated crab talking and dancing in front of the image asking you to unpause.

Could be a compatibility issue. On the 820 it disappeared the minute I hit play.

My copy freezes up during chapter 35. I have an LG player. Is anyone else having that issue?

No issues on my UBK90; just finished watching it an hour ago. Loved it by the way.

There is indeed a certain amount of motion smearing going on here. I wonder if the HDR grade hasn't exacerbated a byproduct of the grain management used during the restoration process. It is a slightly older master anyway and not done with the latest digital tools.

I noticed some motion smearing too, but I thought it might have just been my TV which has some issues with motion. It's a shame if it's actually baked into the disc because it looks very good otherwise.

Yes it disappears when I hit play. What I meant is if you pause to look at the frame, part of the image is covered by this and you cannot remove it...

Which can be a pain if screen capturing for PQ comparison and you want a specific frame captured! (IE. Comparing the PQ for each different format TTC Home Video release!)

I found the motion to be pretty distracting, myself. More of a slight ghosting than smearing.

Also, during the Exodus itself, I was distracted by the tight top frame shearing heads off sphinxes/Rameses monuments left and right. Can anyone confirm 'twas always thus?

Threw it on to watch yesterday. Hadn't seen it in years and never watched the blu-ray, so can't really speak to those comparisons.

That said, the movie looked GORGEOUS on my LG CX with Dolby Vision. The location shots, the colors, the set pieces — really blew me away, like seeing it for the first time again. Yeah, the clarity made certain effects shots obvious, but that never really bothered me in movies like these.

A true epic that I'll look forward to spinning again.
