I could take the Criterion, an HDR transfer, and an HDR + Colored version I'm sacrilegious like that. It's actually because I find this film instantly rewatchable it's one of the great quirky ones. You can loop this and just mock all the characters. It's a lot of fun.

You want to see Night of the Living Dead mocking? Here's something I remember watching on TV around 1986!

I watched the Crietrion bluray a few months ago before I sold it off in a big purge of Criterion blurays. I picked up the UHD in the recent Criterion flash sale and watched it last night. I can't claim to say for certain just how it compares to the bluray (which I thought was very nice) but I did think I noticed in general uptick in quality on this release. I felt the upgrade was worth it, especially since it's something I will watch regularly. Plus, I prefer the standard case on this release.

Finally got my hands on that coveted Dawn of the Dead UHD so I figured I would pick this up too and revisit since it's been years.

This really held up. Feels like it's offering more poignant social commentary than it even intended. One of the all time great endings, worth buying just to see two of my friends' reactions who had no idea it was coming. Really appreciate Duane Jones giving a very modern & naturalistic performance in an ensemble that is otherwise bringing very mid-20th century energy to it.

Seems like a decent transfer too, nice level of detail and contrast for a non-HDR grade. Only thing that stood out is the slow-moving grain in the background on a lot of the medium shots inside the house, feels like a weird compression issue for such a short movie. Nitpicking aside I enjoyed it and am looking forward to checking out Romero's other Dead movies.

MAD MOVIES Night Of The Living Dead - YouTube
Old comment, but I never understand the riffing this movie sometimes gets. It's probably just because it's in the public domain. It's several steps above most low-budget horror/sci-fi schlock of this era. Unlike something like Creature from the Haunted Sea or Attack of the The Eye Creatures (their typo, not mine), I take this film dead seriously when I watch it.

I feel the same way about Carnival of Souls. When I worked at Regal, we played a RiffTrax of that film, and I was annoyed because I'd much rather just watch the actual Carnival of Souls on the big screen.

How do you organise your collection?
Do you keep your Second Sight Dawn Of The Dead 4K next to Criterion Night Of The Living Dead 4K or do you keep them seperate?

Currently I have all my boutique labels together (All Arrow together, All Criterion together, all Second Sight together etc)
but feels kinda silly now having films from the same franchise split up in different sections of the collection.

Alphabetical order.

Mine used to be very strictly alphabetically, but one day I got bored and did the boutique labels thing, but also exceptions like Romero's Dead movies all together. Obviously you have to remember a bit more, but that's never been an issue!
