With the amount of Japanese films Radiance is releasing I think there is a major one that needs a release and is easily one of the top ten Samurai films of all time IMO. Goyokin. It's a samurai film that takes place in the blistering cold and has an all star cast. It's probably my favorite Tetsuro Tanba role and is probably the first time since Hara Kiri that he and Tatsuya Nakadai had a sword duel. Unlike Hara kiri we actually see the end results with this one. I'll post a review below from a Youtube video.
The only issue is that it's with Fuji TV which none of the boutique labels have really licensed from. I've seen other companies license their Anime, so it is possible. They also have Hitokiri which might be just as good. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064387/ ![]() |

‘Goodbye and Amen’ is a violent paranoid political thriller that — for me — hits a sweet spot between goofy insanity and nervous intensity. The actor who plays Roy Lambert is incredible. John Steiner is almost proto Eric Roberts at times. The score is pleasingly groovy. I really enjoyed this movie.

I watched The Sting of Death last night and...two thumbs up. I have to admit the first 15 minutes or so I was thinking it was going to be a long tiring slog but then something happened...I couldn't stop watching.
It fit in these quirky artistic bits that would keep me off balance then music pieces that would creep in like something out of a Hitchcock film. All of a sudden there is a middle section where all that seems to disappear and the movie just gets normal then when you settle to that the quirks and touches come back through the end. It's a slow depressing film about cheating, marriage, mental illness, and finding one's identity. With a description like that if you had told me you'll want to rewatch all that I would have said, oh no...but yet I do...I definitely do. I'm glad I took the chance on it. |

Not going to lie, pretty much all of these are excellent. The only two I haven't seen are Misunderstood and The Shape of Night, but from all accounts I've read they are all good. The Bounty Hunter Trilogy and Allonsanfan are probably my favorites from the ones I've seen. Bounty Hunter would be number one though, as it's just a pretty bad ass trilogy. |

You know what would make for a great release? Gonin. Now that Shochiku is licensing I think this would be a great seller for Radiance and it's easily in the top five crime films out Japan post the 1970's. It has Takeshi Kitano in one of his most memorable roles as as one eyed hitman and it has a ton of great Japanese actors. The sountrack is also killer. There are also two sequels, but the first one is easily the best of the three.

I think I watched The Facts of Murder with the wrong state of mind. I had just watched a pretty fast paced movie before, and wasn't really prepared to slow things down. I thought it was simply ok, but others seemed to really enjoy it a lot more. |

I did. I got some of their Region A releases from wowhd, some from UnobstructedView, and recently ordered directly from Radiance their Region B World Noir, I the Executionner and Tai Kato book. I don't remember what type of packaging that one came in, if that's what you're wondering about.
