Please, please look into getting Peter Jackson's THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD! The change from B&W to 3D color is magical and the whole documentary is amazing. It deserves to be released as the director created it - in 3D!

Placed my first Turbine order. Had been holding off as was trying to get through some of my unwatched pile. Guessing prices to ship to the US will be going up soon thanks to today's tariffs announcement, so decided to jump in now. $106 USD for four new titles. Especially looking forward to rewatching MI Fallout (did see in 3D in cinema) and Bumblebee. Thanks Turbine! Will order Mario once the next bundle comes out.

How if at all do the 20% tariffs on the EU affect Turbine -> USA orders going forward?

Be on the lookout for government changes made to the "de minimis" limits on personal goods coming by mail/courier. This limit defines the maximum value of an individual shipment that can be received duty/tariff free. Currently, the cutoff is US$800 with the exception of imports of Chinese goods.

In short, at present it should be safe to order discs from Turbine. The government will probably give a heads up several weeks in advance if they change the "de minimis" limits on other countries.

Tariffs are domestic surcharges and are paid for by the importer of goods. Therefore, Turbine does not have any knowledge nor control over what happens with shipments once they have been dispatched. All Turbine shipments are properly declared and come with an invoice. Turbine cannot prepay or in any other way cover surcharges arising out of tariffs. As of today we would expect that shipments arriving at the US border after the deadline will be subject to tariffs.

From my perspective in Canada, Turbine needs to improve their customs declarations. When ordering a bundle of three 3D Blu-rays, your customs form tends to list both the bundle price and the regular prices of the individual Blu-rays. This results in discs being counted twice and thus doubling the taxes I have to pay.

In addition, the customs forms are specifying the names of the movies. This is confusing to customs officials. For example, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was interpreted as an "electrical device: inductor or transformer" for import purposes. Other movie titles are being reclassified as "toys/miniature models". Preferably, the discs should simply be listed as "optical media: Blu-ray movies".

Such misunderstandings should be preventable with the right HS/HTS code.
That would be:
HS Code (Worldwide): 85234990
HTS Code (USA): 85234920.

Unrelated but I once had trouble importing a VHD disc (obscure video format from the 80s) from Japan of “Crocodile Dundee” because the system thought the package included a live crocodile! (Animals of any type are “prohibited items.”

Turbine is using the HS code 85234910. That's fine.

But they are using descriptions such as "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts 3D - Turbine Coll" and then the end of the description is completely cut off.

So customs officials are judging the customs declaration as being inaccurately filled out. They override the given tariff code based on the description. In this example, the new classification is 85049090 (electrical transformers, static converters (for example, rectifiers) and inductors: parts: other).

So, now I'm going to express a 3D wish that's close to my heart... and since I'm already an old hand, please don't laugh too loudly—this is my preserved childhood.

As a Harry Potter film lover (I pull them off the shelf more often than the Star Wars films, including the originals from the 70s/80s—and that's saying something), I would be thrilled to see a Blu-ray 3D release of the first three films, which have finally made it into the 3D world.

I realize the chances of this happening at Warner Bros. are slim, but I'm not giving up hope.

I'm convinced that the many die-hard Harry Potter fans around the world, who span all generations and often have little to do with the usual 3D mainstream cinema, would have their eyes and ears wide open if they learned that the vast, magical fairytale world can be experienced in a new dimension, almost within reach, right in their own homes.

The size of the worldwide Harry Potter fanbase should not be underestimated. Hardly any other fanbase can boast such a loyal following across all age groups and demographics.

If there weren't a certain number of seriously interested fans among them who would make the marketing of Harry Potter films on Blu-ray 3D lucrative, I'd eat a flying broom.

Bye, and have a nice weekend.

That is Canada's customs problem.

If they have inept workers that can't decipher a customs declaration then those people and the Canada's customs should be accountable of the harm they're doing to the consumers. If they have suspicions about packages they can open and check what is inside and tax the right amount or contact the consumer to declare what is the order.

For what I've read Turbine is in no way accountable for what you have been experiencing. They declare the unit value and the total value. You should only pay if deemed for the total.

If I were you I'd take action over Canada's customs for unlawful activities and demand repair.

Only the 1st one was converted to 3D, 2 and 3 were not and it is a Warner Bros. release so not much Turbine can do here. As far as i know the other labels that have deals with WB have not released a 3D bluray yet.

Then I must have misunderstood this :

As for the rest, that’s why I wrote:

Plaion Pictures distributes Warner Bros. in Germany.
Flesh for Frankenstein isn't from Warner, but it was released on Blu-ray 3D by Plaion Pictures in February. As far as I know, Turbine also gets some Warner titles.

So, why not a little hope?

No, that's right, today isn't my day.

Universal distributes some Warner films in Germany, and Turbine is in contact with Universal.
That was actually my glimmer of hope regarding Turbine and Warner.

"ATTENTION: International shipment of items may be subject to customs processing and additional charges. Such charges must be paid for by the recipient."

Would take more than a tarrif to have stopped me from pre-ordering another great 3D release from Turbine.

As purchasers of international Blu-rays in other countries will attest, cross your fingers that the U.S. doesn't remove the de minimis for personal imports.

Because if it is eliminated, one is looking at a 20% tariff (or maybe upwards of 40% if Turbine continues to add duplicate items on their customs declarations). Plus there will also be customs brokerage fees, plus maybe disbursement fees (for the loan to prepay the aforementioned levies and the hassle of trying to collect them from you).

Shipping companies are pretty good at finding ways to extract money out of their customers!
