Been running my X1200W for a few weeks now and I love it. My only gripe, and it's with my TV is that the ARC only supports PCM 2.0. I wanted to use ARC to cut down on the cables by removing the optical cable. I can watch TV with my Xbox one as I have a tuner. But that seems to only do PCM 2.0 with the TV app as well.

Every TV, except for a select few Sony, dumbs down DD from incoming HDMI to go back out toslink/ARC.

The. TV. Is. Not. Supposed. To. Be. The. Hub.

The correct set up, since the AVR was invented in 1990, is...

All your sources -> AVR -> TV

If you use OTA(meaning the tuner in the TV), then the TV itself is connected to the AVR for audio...only. There are many TV out there where the app audio can't leave the TV.

I'm a chord cutter, so OTA. I don't watch much live TV though except for sports.

Hi guys.

Hope everyone is well. Just need some guidance here.
Here is my setup:
- Anthony Gallos 3.5 refs
- Strada Center
- Adiva TI surrounds
- Anthem MCA 30
- Anthony Gallos SA Amp
- Denon 4520

I've just picked up 2 subs (matching PSA subs) and just need some guidance on how to connect everything up.

Currently, I've got the Front and Center powered by the MCA. The second coil (lower coil) of the 3.5s refs are powered by the SA Amp. Prior to the getting the 2 PSA subs, had the cables going from the SA Amp to the Denon's SW1 & SW2 pre out.

1. Should I be connecting the two PSA subs to the SW1 and SW2 on the Denon pre-out instead?
2. Would doing so means the lower coil of the 3.5 refs won't be used?

Just trying to work my head around things and I figured that some of you might be able to point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

The lower end of the Gallo 3.5 isn't supposed to be connected to the subwoofer output.

You've been listening to a 300hz gaping hole.

Hi schan. Thanks for that. Funny because I even got the AG team to verify my connection was all correct previously (with pictures and all). Seeing as I am no expert, I will just say that I made a big mistake.

Any guidance on how I should be wiring things up now? Thanks in advance.

AG doesn't list a "low extension" of the midrange drivers. I doubt the "maximum setting of 200hz" is the low extension(500hz is typical, hence the "300hz gaping hole").

You "should be" running a pair of external crossovers off the main LR preout.

I see.

Well if you don't mind could we take a few steps back. Would you be able to guide me as to how I ought to be wiring things up now? (Minus the external crossover as I don't have one on hand currently)

thanks heaps. Appreciate it.

Do the AG come with a bridge to connect the binding posts together?

No. The "Speaker In" connectors and "Sub In" are not connected at all . The only extra 'bridge' is the OPT connection which sits above the binding posts. But I understand that that's not what you were referring to.

Does it have the features you need?

Then my opinion is "buy that one cause it has the features you need".

I am not sure it has many features I don't need. I am looking for a receiver for watching movies only. I trying to decide weather adding a couple of speaker in the ceiling is worth it or not. Hell I don't know how long Atmos is going to be around. I have a 2.1 Marantz for music. I know I want to upgrade my old Sony 5.1 which does not have HDMI what a pain in the ass.

Thank you for your response.

Atmos/X isn't a "fad".

Yamaha started this with Presence. Dolby added IIz. Audyssey gave us DSX.

Now it has come to "on purpose" vs "afterthought".

The only format that has, essentially, died...is width.

I just picked up the 710W and love it. I didn't need the additional power or HDMI inputs so I went with the 710W to save a little money.

Can't wait for the DTS: X firmware upgrade

Not yet but that is one of the Denon receivers that will get a firmware update in the next month or two that will allow it to decode DTS: X
