I actually haven't watched my blu-ray of Chungking yet either

But I have it on DVD and have watched it multiple times...... I just keep getting new movies delivered from Netflix etc.... and keep putting off Chungking Express on Blu-ray!!!!! (I did pop it in to check AQ/PQ on a couple of scenes though)

I just finished The Wages of Fear which I enjoyed. I have too many movies to watch. I think that is my problem. Have to slow down on the purchases, but new deals keep poping up every week so its hard to resist.

I just checked Benjamin Button on Amazon's description and it says Paramount,this IS a Criterion release,right? Confused!

Yes.... Paramount and Criterion put this out.... check the review on this site for more info, including pictures of the case etc.

how was In the Realm of the Senses? that title looked "interesting" to say the least...google images didn't leave anything to interpretation...

I think it is must be an acquired taste. I watched it once and it was the 1st of all the Criterion Blu-rays where I didn't like the story. Following recommendations I'll see about watching it again with commentary on.

It's pretty much non-stop explicit nudity and sex. I agree it isn't a porn flick and has much more artistic merit but still I just don't see a whole lot to the story other than a rather twisted sex addict showing her stuff.

Chungking is my favorite Criterion Blu-Ray so far...it's not the greatest movie ever but just like Bottle Rocket the ''atmosphere'' of the movie is awesome, the way it's shot is great. I just hate that song California Dreaming in Chungking that goes on forever in many scenes of the movie...the PQ is also pretty good

I say Blasphemous! That song is as much a part of the whole second part of the film as the actual actors.

My copy arrives tomorrow. I hope there is more to it than what you suggest.

It certainly was, as it also seemed to be in every scene.

I agree that it was used well, but it was used well just a bit too much.

Maybe....... but who knows

Either way.... I'm still waiting for a lower price on this one (the other titles are more static in their pricing....but mainstream titles tend to be a part of sales etc.....

It would nice if Amazon had a "Criterion" Gold box day
