Did I mention anything about pasta being healthy carbs? I can guarantee I have a better body than u and know 100 times more than you do about healthy foods and a fit lifestyle.. Again I repeat u need healthy fats and good carbs in a proper diet.. If u cut this out from your diet it's not good for the long term, the problem is with the majority of people is they say "I want to lose 20-30 lbs" or I'm dieting to lose some weight but what happens when they reach their goal? I'll tell you! They gain the weight back because they are clueless. Changing your lifestyle will keep the lbs off forever and doing that is knowing what proper foods are and the benefits each of them do.. Since you seem clueless I will help you and give you some examples.. Healthy fats would be olive oil, fats from fish, avocados, egg yolks etc etc. healthy carbs would be brown rice, veggies, rice cakes, chocolate milk, some fruit.. So please know what you're talking about before giving these people looking for help more wrong advice.. Also when u get a chance post a pic of yourself I would love to see it.

Well, you are 100% correct. People need to understand that diets, any diet is NOT sustainable and will only lead to further weight gain in the future...this is not an opinion but a fact. There's no way for people to abstain from eating carbs and fats forever. The key is to limit simple carbs and fat intake and like you suggested to substitute for healthier carbs and fats.

I could never see cutting out carbs. Aren't they also needed to help your body get the most from protein? And more importantly they give you energy.

Lifestyle change is what it is about. I know. I love junk food. Especially when watching movies! Last night had some Doritos, M&M's and Coke. I love beer on a hot day! Had 2 around 3:00 yesterday. I got to change these habits.

I am not a morning person, I get up about an hour before work and hardly ever eat. Just a cup of coffee and out the door. I know it is important to eat breakfast. Once I was eating breakfast along with snacks at 10, 3 and 9 o'clock. Without exercise I dropped 5kgs in no time. Problem is, I'm lazy and preparing the snacks and sting at home was a lot of work. Got busy with work, kid, etc. and the next thing ya know, I'm only eating twice a day and hardly ever at home. Well, the weight came back with interest.

Because I'm lazy, I'm trying those Ensure drinks for breakfast. I know some oatmeal and a banana would be better. Just wonder what you guys think of meal replacements.

changing your diet is just a half measure

you need to get out and exercise

the hardest thing to do is get in the mindset and not bulge

yes carbs are your essential source of energy.. and yes you need to get on that breakfast! it will pace the day for you. usually for breakfast I have 5 egg whites 1 whole egg, 1/2 cup of steel cut oats, and 1/4 cup of blueberries.. the steel oats take about 30 mins to cook so I prepare my week batch on sundays and bag them individually with their proper measurements. Meal replacements are decent for mid-day. you want to try and eat every 2half-3hours.. I usually have one around 3-30pm.. your weight came back because you aren't eating enough, you need to prepare your food the night before so its easy to take with you first thing in the morning.. in in Outside sales so I have my stuff in a cooler in my car. remember getting fit and looking great is 80% Kitchen 20% Gym

I take these (pumpkin supreme is my favorite)

http://www.vpxsports.com/muscle-buil...t-protein-bars

these are very beneficial for my lifestyle. if you're not into working out than I would look into Quest bars! they are by far the best on the market with essential no sugar and sugar alcohols.. my favorite flavors would be Berry Bliss, Coconut Cashew and Apple Pie

People with more fat always have an easier time building muscle than skinny people. You lose weight as a whole so if you say something like "I was a skinnier stomach" it just wont happen right away, you will start noticing weightloss in your face, arms, legs, ass than stomach.

Ohh ok, well ive use to lift weights alot, i was really skinny, boney actually when i was younger lol but in jr high i started to get into weights especially since my bro and his ppl started lifting. I started eating lots of meats and fattening foods to gain weight and started burning it into muscle. I got pretty big, once i got into high school started playing football, doing squads and running alot, doing the drills, but then ended up getting kicked out, stopped exercising and ate more lol now im not big big but im overweight now, might try to lose some and get back on them weights again.

Modest with it!

Nolfoc, I thought this thread was about losing weight, not toning, cutting or bulking?

If you want to lose weight sharpish then you need to put your body in a state of Ketosis, and cutting carbs is the only way to do this. Once you've reached your goal weight, then you can re-introduce carbs back into your diet for maintenance.

As for calling 'Egg Yolks' a healthy fat, that's misleading in itself as they can contribute to high cholesterol!

you're still very very confused mah man.. I haven't discussed bulking or cuting have I? you're really good at putting words into peoples mouths. Losing Weight is Toning the body "chief".. cutting out carbs completely is extremely unhealthy!! MEMBERS DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS MAN IF YOU"RE DECIDING TO LIVE A LONG AND HEALHTY LIFESTYLE.

oh and here is a fact on Egg yolks

Quote:
Egg yolks contain dietary cholesterol; this much is true. But research has proven that dietary cholesterol has almost nothing to do with serum cholesterol, the stuff in your blood. Wake Forest University researchers reviewed more than 30 egg studies and found no link between egg consumption and heart disease, and a study in Saint Louis found that eating eggs for breakfast could decrease your calorie intake for the remainder of the day.

you should subscribe to menshealth because you clearly need it

P.S. I'm still waiting for a pic of yourself..

Not sure what steel oats are, but I like SteelBooks! Will look that up.

I will try to get back to preparing the food. Almonds, raisins, and craisins I always had on hand before. Also, cheese and crackers, boiled eggs, oranges, bananas, and plain yogurt is fine, but after a month I get tired of it.

I can keep food, got a fridge at work, and my home is 4 minute walk away. Hard thing here (here is Taiwan) is getting the food. Berries are rare and very expensive. Black cherries are nice, but only a month a year. Anything from GNC is much more expensive than in the States.

this is was I eat, steeloats are 100% whole grains unlike regular oats that loses its vitamins and minerals during the processing.

http://www.worldmarket.com/product/m...cut-oatmeal.do

I would cut craisins out for sure, they add to much sugar for sweetness you definitely want to cut out sugars. low moisture low fat mozz cheese sticks are a good snack cut out the crackers and put it on non salted rice cakes. I would also switch out yogurt for Greek yogurt. remember this is a process and you shouldn't be getting tired of foods, you just got to switch it up! there are so many great healthy foods out there, you're in Taiwan correct? I bet you can get a hold of some great fresh fish! if you stick to a healthy plan consisting of healthy fats, carbs and proteins for 3 weeks you will notice a HUGE difference in your body, attitude, stamina, and even sex drive. once you get past that 3 week mark the skys the limit!! you still need to exercise though, its also important and I'm not just referring to weight lifting (which burns more calories than any sort of cardio) try to atleast fit into your schedule 30-40 mins a day 3 times a week. than work your way up to 4, 5 and 6.. I can help you with eating plans if you'd like and give you some great recipes that tast great and are good for you. just let me know!

just remember! eating good leads to looking good and looking good makes you feel good and feeling good and looking good will keep the sex life very good

Gaston? Is that you? When you were a lad did you eat four dozen eggs?

Seriously, your breakfast is 1/2 my entire daily intake. Which isn't ripping on you, you're a fit dude. But damn, I can barely shove a granola bar down in the morning.

Almonds and other nuts are good for you. Peanuts in moderation. You can try drying your own fruit with a dehydrator. You can make craisins of your own without the high sugar content.

Getting tired of the snacks is tough. Lunch and dinner, I'll be fine. Snacks are harder. Towards the end of these adventures, i usually have a fridge full of expired cheese and yogurt. Never seen Greek yogurt, rice cakes, or mozzarella sticks here. Sure in Taipei they are around in some speciality shops. But I'm about 3 hours away.

Fish is no problem. Love sashimi, and it is priced ok here. I go to the harbor often and buy live shrimp, and clams. Also salmon steaks about twice a month. Olive oil, Italian seasoning and in the oven for a bit.

Okay, Craisins are gone.

no don't get rid of snacks just choose better options, handful of raw almonds(19-23), low fat cheese sticks (low moisture mozzarella is the best), greek yogurt, fruit(apple, half banana, pomegranate, kiwi, Rasberries, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon).. if you haven't seen the snacks you listed try looking for other options, Turkey Jerkey is great.. if you have to settle for yogurt that's okay just make sure its plain with really low sugar and try to have a protein with it if you're using it for a snack. My Favorite Snack is 1 cup of cottage cheese, 1 scoop of protein powder and about 10 raw almonds.. mix it all together and its possibly the best snack you can ever eat, I usually eat it late night because cottage cheese is a slow digesting protein.

the Paleo diet is basically a healthy lifestyle eating fish, fiber, proteins.. though its a start I wouldn't recommend staying on it forever, it still limits some foods your food needs to thrive.

I'm still waiting for The Force's picture!! what's taking you so long buddy

I started following a Paleo Diet style of eating last year, and I love it.

My above choice of words, "Paleo Diet style of eating", is such because there's really no practical way to eat a "Paleo Diet" by strict definition this day and age, with all the additives, hidden ingredients, pesticides, and general assorted modern-day variables. In general terms, though, the Paleo style of eating is pretty awesome.

My everyday diet includes meats, fruits, and most vegetables, while I avoid grains, dairy, and any type of processed food. I got down to my all-time lowest weight of my adult life (176 pounds) last year, but am a few pounds heavier now since I tripped up over the holidays and winter. I should be back down to the neighborhood of my low weight in a couple of months.

I basically follow the rule of, "If it does not come from the ground or if it does not have a mom, then do not put it in your mouth."

Another way to put it is, "If the food can go bad, then it is good for you. If the food cannot go bad, then it is bad for you."

I find that it's a lot easier for me to control cravings and such if I avoid any type of processed foods, even the "healthy" grain foods and such.

Well.....I'm still alive! This is day 3 of not "dieting" but more of a "healthier choices" lifestyle. I've been making better choices and have slowly been adding some exercise daily. Been really cutting out as much processed foods and instead of snacky choices, I've been eating more fruits and veggies. I'm 42, and I've decided that I want to be around for my grand kids, and be able to enjoy them!

What about unsweetened iced tea-plain? I've been drinking a lot of that and lots of water instead of soda.
