Your name over there is Christine88, right?

It appears you don't really like it here, based on what you've said over there.

That place is a damn joke!! Only reason i am there is to see the junk. I dont post much.

{The emoticons didn't copy over, but rest assured the posts are as peppered with them as they are here}

So the real question is, why do you keep coming back here? You bash the place on its own FB page, you bash the place on forums you're incapable of logging back into, so what gives?

I didn't end up getting selected, they weren't ready to begin the proceedings yesterday. The entire group was dismissed around 12:30pm when they realised this. They didn't have to pay anyone either, as we weren't there past 1pm. Unfortunately it means I can be called up to serve again in another year, sooner than it would of been if I had been selected.

You can't just ask for something like that. You have to earn it. Otherwise it's special treatment outside of the rules.

Damn...so sorry. Hang in there bud. Life does have it's bad days for sure....but you have to cherish and remember the good days as well. Prayers and thoughts go out to you and your dad.

They may still form, but the oxygen they have to give her hinders retinal development so the doctors have to strike a very delicate balance. Whether she'll make it through is still up in the air. The past few days everyone's been torn up about the baby, but now it turns out her mother's life is at risk. I'm unsure of the details, but something went horribly wrong. The doctors haven't seen anything like it and they used the term fatal. I feel utterly useless right now. I wish they was something I could do. Seriously, f*** this shit.
Just keep praying and be there for your cousin (which I'm sure you are). She needs all your love and support...as does your cousin and their child. Thoughts and prayers go out to you, your cousin, his wife, and their child.

In our county, service is for 90 days, whenever they need you. It's a nuisance to be on the hook for three months. We got paid $7 per day. Probably did not cover fuel for some. They can call me again any time, but it was only my second time ever. First time was 1992 in Ann Arbor as an alternate in a firearm assault trial. Shooting actually occurred in Ypsilanti. That got dismissed. Witnesses were playing games.

We don't have to be on call for a set period, we are just given a date and time to be there, and random selection occurs on that day. The average time frame for a trial at the court house I attended was two weeks, give or take a few days, and as I previously mentioned, if you don't get selected or they don't need you, that's it for a year/s. $7 a day , it's $106 per day here plus a travel allowance calculated by distance (they also provide lunch), and the daily amount doubles after the first week if you are employed. Essentially it's irrelevant though, you are never out on income, as by law your employer has to make up the difference.

I believe in Canada you have to show up every day for a week. If not chosen, then you are dismissed. Compensation/travel allowance varies by province.

i've been called for jury duty three times in my life.....never served.

the first time we just sat in a room waiting for about 4 hours. they came in and told us that there would be no selection that day and we could leave but had to come back the next day. that next day, i wasn't chosen.
we got paid for out time and for mileage. we had to fill out a form stating how far we drove from our home to the courthouse and the pay for time was (i think) about minimum wage. i don't think they do this anymore, though, but i'm not sure.

the second time was when i was moving to the northwest and i wouldn't be a resident of this state during the trial so i got an immediate pass.

the last time i basically just told them i didn't want to serve and i was dismissed.

It's always interesting to read how things work differently in other countries.

These threads devoted to young female actors, I find that kind of disturbing.
