While not a masterpiece by any stretch, this was a very solid overall movie.
At the same time, it had two jaw dropping Oscar worthy perfomances by the 2 leading actors.

If you like drama movies, this is a must have for you. Its almost as good as this type of movies get.

8/10

Great Drama flick. Man did those two fight?!?!?

But not as dramatic as Czar v. Foggy

IP MAN

Holy Crap, kung fu at its best!!!!! Solid story line, and amazing special effects. I dont even know what to compare this movie too. IP MAN was a legendary kung fu master (and mentor to Bruce Lee) who help bring the Chinese together during the war between Japan and China which Donnie Yen performed flawlessly.

Very remarkable movie and i will definitely be watching this again. I couldn't give this movie a perfect 10 because of 2 reasons.
1- I felt the Character Development wasn't as good as it could be.
2- The story was good but not 10 good.

Basically if you wanna get your socks knocked off by Kung Fu you've never seen this movie is for you! Best Kung Fu Movie (When it comes to action) EVER!!!!!! MUST OWN

4.5/5

One of the few movies I liked more than the book. Not that it's much different from the book--pretty much a perfect adaptation. Just that the movie was more impactful in getting the despair and hopelessness of post-apocalyptic survival across in an emotional way for me. Great performances as well.
Just saw this last week and I thought it was great. Can't wait to get the blu.

A Knight's Tale - 3.25/5

My brother used to watch this all the time when we were younger, but I'd only seen it once and thought it was ok. Same feeling after 8 years. Overall I enjoyed it, but it's an average film. However, it's always a pleasure to see Ledger on screen again.

I always loved it, fun action, good comedy and the always gorgeous Shannyn Sossamon.

Yeah, just don't blind buy it. As much as I liked it, I can't see myself watching it many times.

There were parts where I had a good laugh, but overall, the movie wasn't that funny for me. I thought it was a fun film, but suffered due to the heavy amount of cheeziness. Off to watch The Return

Defnitely, this is a 1 time only watch, but a good one.
So, renting it is the best bet for everyone.

Clash of the titans just never really caught me, I'd seen most of what it tried to do before in other blockbuster movie and never felt like it was trying anything new, I was quite excited for Clash of the Titans as well.
Yea well just have to agree to disagree about those two films and I understand as I always say we cant all like the same films. I just dont want any biasness thats obvious. I mean there are films that I dont think look good or I may not like the actor but if it turns out to be good then I will give it its props. Got Em!!

Not saying that I will do the same with Scott Pilgrim, but I will probably rent it even though the trailers don't do anything for me. I don't mind Michael Cera at all, so that probably helps.
True true but Kick-Ass didnt look as silly as this though goin in haha. Got Em!!

Poltergeist III - Ok so I finally watched part III and I dont think that I have seen this one before as I didnt remember anything. To me it was actually better than part II but that isnt sayin much. It was weird seeing a different person playin Kane but I thought he was kinda creepy. It was more action in this one than part II and it wasnt as slow. It still doesnt come close to the original but how could it?

Film Rating - 3 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!

Days of Heaven Criterion BD

This is written and directed by Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line and The New World) and stars a very young Richard Gere (An Officer and a Gentleman, Pretty Woman and Chicago), Brooke Adams (Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Gas, Food Lodging), Sam Shepard (The Right Stuff, Paris, Texas Blackhawk Down), Linda Manz and an actor who played primarily villainous roles in Westerns, Robert J. Wilke (High Noon, From Here to Eternity, Written on the Wind and Man of the West). It is beautifully and artistically filmed by Néstor Almendros (The Story of Adele H, Kramer vs Kramer and Sophie's Choice), John Bailey (Cat People, The Big Chill, Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters and Silverado) and Haskell Wexler (Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Bound for Glory, Matewan and Blaze) and has a likewise beautiful music score by Ennio Morricone (numerous spaghetti western film scores including most noteworthy The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Bugsy, In the Line of Fire, Wolf and Disclosure). As a side note, I had to include Disclosure not only because it happens to be one of my favorite films but also because it dealt with sexual harassment in the workplace, something I dealt with as an investigator before I retired from the Federal government.

To put it simply, all I can say about Days of Heaven is WOW! This is the very first time that I've seen this film but I can easily say that it is the most beautifully photographed film that I've ever seen and it almost seemed like someone from National Geographic or the Discovery Channel was filming it rather than someone connected with Hollywood. According to Wikipedia, an early image of the Victorian mansion of Shepard's character refers to Edward Hopper's painting "House by the Railroad" and another image in the film refers to the Andrew Wyeth painting "Christina's World." I mention this only because the photography in the film is so artistically done. If you want a BD to test the abilities of your HDTV and so you can enjoy a beautifully photographed film, this comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I didn't include any plot information because I didn't want to spoil it for you and to be perfectly honest, this is one film where beauty and art overshadow content. The film has a 92% T-Meter Critics rating at Rottentomatoes.com and a 71% Top Critics rating (only 7 ratings and I think the critics at the NY Times and ReelViews made a mistake in their rating of this film). One Oscar, 10 other wins and 8 nominations.

Movie: 5/5 VQ: 5/5 (for its outstanding DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack) SQ: 5/5 Supplements: 4/5

Great, fantastic and involving. Definitely worth your time as a rental.

American Psycho

Some many memorable lines, "that's a very fine Chardonnay you're not drinking".
[Show spoiler]Was he just crazy or did he really kill all those people? Hmm.. interesting. I think he did because everybody kept confusing people's identity.

That picture is ridiculous and silly beyond all measure. A NIKE breast plate...LOL. Fans in the arena chanting Queen songs.

I own it. Great replay value.

Next greatest rental: “Che” both parts.

Oh Stephen Soderbergh, how I have grown to hate thee. You entranced me so fully with “Ocean’s 11.” Then I was confounded by the convoluted “Traffic,” uninspired by the confusing and slow-going “Solaris,” and even more bored with “The Good German.” Then you tricked me into “The Informant!” with such a witty-looking trailer, only to find it duller than I imagined.

Sorry dudes, but I really didn’t care for any of those films. As such, I had some reservations about “Che.”

Judging the film by its own merits, however, I find it’s surprisingly not bad. I like Del Toro in this; I didn’t even realize it was him at first, for his performance was convincing. The story has its ups and downs, and some parts drag just a little, but the action scenes are rather well-done (even though the cameraman takes on the observer role rather than sticking the audience’s faces in it; this could be a thing that makes me dislike Soderbergh’s other films, but here it’s not too dull at all). There were a decent amount of events that interested me, and the politics of the situation(s) were interesting.

I still have a few reservations about this film, and I need to take this story with a huge grain of salt. I question its historical accuracy, and its portrayal of the title character (suffice to say that I feel that the film glorifies him a bit much). I also half wonder if the film intends to push a certain agenda of its own (particular emphasis on free health care…hmmm….). Throughout, I couldn’t help but to think of the film as biased and perhaps a little too one-sided. At the very least, it’s far from objective.

Regardless, I think I liked it in general. It might just spur me to read more on the character and make up my own mind about him. From a “Hollywood” standpoint though, it’s not too bad at all. Well done Mr. Soderbergh!

I think this film goes good with “Mesrine,” another two-part biopic with a rough gritty style.

4/5, political bias notwithstanding (entertainment: 3.5/5, story: 4/5, film: 4.5/5)
