First of all, I made a mistake when I said he'd have to sell 12,000 copies at $40 each to recoup the $47,000 (my miscalculation by adding an extra 0 meant that would equal nearly a half a million, when it's a tenth of that.)
Because of my miscalculation, I doubted he spent $47,000 but it's looking more that he did spend that as that's very possible because if he sold only 2000 at $25 each that's about $47,000, which is of course before mastering, replication etc. expenses.
I apologize for doubting Bill spent that on BBNM, but The Farmer is another story and there's hundreds of people that want it, even though Bill claims only 20 people will buy it.

As the only person currently meeting the criteria of not being suspended and being constantly accused of shilling for you and Bill, due to how much I appreciate what you both do, I am in the unique position to say this and have you understand that it is meant with concern, not anger. You, David, know as well as I do that either Bill is not the world rights owner, as he would at the very least be selling a digital HD copy to recoup losses and cut off the ebay sales that are stealing his profits, or he is the world rights owner and is sitting on this film for an undisclosed reason, a reason that is important enough to him to lose all of the revenue from a digital HD version or repressing or, even, a BD-R cheapy. Only he knows. You should ask. You don't have to tell us, but you should be asking these questions and trying to get at what is motivating him, before cheering him on in paying attorneys to do anything.

Whatever the case, he has gone on record so many times that he is done with this film, not repressing, not selling a streaming version, not doing a BD-R duplication, that he has cut his own case for copyright infringement to a simple request for C&D. No damages can be collected if there is no competing product and never will be. They don't even have to try to prove that now. The internet is littered with Bill proving it for them. If he pays an attorney thousands of dollars to fight this fight, it could harm him. I am worried about that. I know you care about him more than I ever could as a simple fan, so please help him to make an informed and rational decision, with his eyes open to the consequences and likely outcome.

Sorry guys, I spaced on posting this....

David announced that Mirror Mirror I is NOT a glow-cover edition. It will have a standard slipcover. I am assuming this is to keep costs down so that they can offer it at a more reasonable price, of course, and, also, because that artwork would be destroyed by glow-paint. They have a really beautiful design that would work wonderfully on a high-gloss slip and they figured that out. So that works out nicely for all of us fans.

Thank you Dark Force for making an excellent choice on the standard high-gloss slip for that lovely German artwork and, more than that, thank you for fixing the terrible lettering they used originally, removing the excess of actors names in favor of two we care about, and adding some color. The red works much better.

Dark Force would graduate to "one of the best US labels" if they made the slipcovers as sturdy as Vinegar Syndrome's, dispense with the theatrics and sell Blu's like a normal business. Just sayin'

Exactly, Dutch the glossy covers.
Matte with glossy highlights is superior in every way.
Vinegar Syndrome makes the best slips in the business.
And it’s not even close.

The glossy covers are nice. Nothing wrong with them. The GitD sucks, but if it's something Dave really loves(not just a gimmick he thinks can use to jack up prices)then he's gotta incorporate it right. Breeders could have worked well if the embossing was done right and the GitD was on the title.

I don't want DF to start doing matte with gloss highlights. That's VS things. And yes VS are the best in the business, and that's not just in the slip cover department, and somehow they manage to do it all at $24.99.

Good catch. But you can do a 1000 copy replication run for under $3K. That's a thousand disks in cases to sell, versus how much lawyer's time would that buy?

You don't have to do all that research. You can't make money or recoup expenses if you aren't selling the product in any way.

Received Gates of Hell/Psychos From Texas and the green GitD paint is slightly already peeled of by the eye which is a little squished in (not sure if it's suppose to be like that.) Not gonna loose any sleep over it but at 40 dollars a pop I figured it wouldn't be that cheap. Any one else have they're GitD look a little scraped off?

Pictures in close up would help on this. I haven't seen anything like it myself, so I'm not sure what it is you are seeing on yours.

Well Mirishill, he said "the green GitD paint is slightly already peeled of by the eye which is a little squished in". So what you quoted then asked about, he'd already stated in your quote. There are already close-up pics on other pages, and it's not supposed to be like he described. It's amazing how some of your short posts can even be more annoying than your novels.

Precisely. They provided a written description of a problem that includes adjectives like "slightly" and "little", both of which are subjective. I have no idea what "slightly" means to this person. To me, a "slight" flaw in a slipcover can only be seen under magnification.

As to the photos you mentioned, I didn't see any flaws in the glow-portion of the glow-cover and I'm pretty sure they were posted by someone else, someone not complaining about peeling.

So, again, pictures of the flaw would be a good idea, as pictures would get everyone on the same page, as to what is happening with the glow-paint. Additionally, they could send the photos to David and ask him for an exchange of that glow-cover.

I'm not interested in a new slip. Like I had already said, I'm not losing any sleep over it. I bought the zombie bundle or whatever it was called. Just for 40 bucks a pop you would expect for the paint not to come off day 1. Just a big fan of the movie and want to own as many copies\versions I can.

So pics or it didn't happen? Look at the corner of the eye and around it. I don't think that's normal.

I believed you without pictures, as I'm sure everyone else did. I just can't envision a thing based off of a subjective description. Pictures always work better. As to what I'm seeing here, it looks like it has bubbling. For what David paid them, none of the slips should have bubbling. You should ask him to exchange it, since you paid $40, but, also, so you'll have a reason to send him some pictures, so he can show them at the production plant and make sure they don't send him anything like that again. That's just poor quality control at the factory level. Since David can't hand check every single slip beyond just glancing at them, because shipping would take Raro time if he did that, it is important that he be able to count on the production team. You should take more pictures and send them, emailing, posting here, PMing here, what have you. He needs to know there's bubbling.

I hate to say it, but, given the appearance of the GoH and Breeders glow-covers, I think the people making them for him may be taking advantage of his love of glowy things. The Dead Pit glow-cover was almost perfect. The next two have some issues. The scary monster from Breeders, for example, is a torso. A monster needs legs, or at least arms to be scary. Who is afraid of a torso that can't even drag itself around.

My targeted delivery date of today for Breeders and GoH/Psycho From Texas was missed so I'll have to wait one more day to find out if all this money I spent was worth it.

Was thinking the other day that Dark Force will probably never be able to cut deals with big studios like MGM because of the way they do business so they'll have to rely on the odd independent deal and reissues/movies on loan from Code Red. Studios want wide distribution and reliable distributors - no way they're going to license to someone who has an online webshop that only opens for 30 minutes in the middle of the night. Bill once said MGM wouldn't deal with him but they happily agreed to deal with Scorpion.
