this thread is an eye-opener. If I'd have known back then that KFH and American Psycho had better releases at the time, I'd have imported those instead in the first place. I may end up doing it now anyways, knowing there are superior HD versions of two of my favorite films out there.

in fact can someone post a link to where I can purchase the Aussie version of AP? Thanks.

Twister from UK/Australia (24bit audio and higher bitrate video)
Army of Darkness from UK (better image quality)
Man on Fire from UK (has all the DVD extras)
Total Recall from UK (MUCH better image quality with a Special edition coming soon)

If you are willing to buy from a third party seller on Amazon UK, you can get Highlander (without the steelbook, in a normal BD case) for about $19 shipped to the U.S.
i tried a third party seller but kept getting a message that it couldnt be mailed to my address, i asked them about and am awaiting a response...

AU $19.97 (incl. GST) at EzyDVD

AU $15.98 (incl. GST?) at JB Hi-Fi

An excellent disc and well worth the low price. Enjoy!

which is interesting to note, I agree about the PQ and the fact that the cut on the HK is the full 126 minute version of the film, but the UK bluray edition, albeit missing some of the more extreme violence and side story has the better soundmix - it's dynamic range has noticeably more punch (and it's only 5.1, whereas the HK has 7.1 sound - go figure [shrugs shoulders])

'The Phantom of the Opera' (Japanese edition) has PCM lossless audio. The UK edition which unfortunately is Region B locked, has significant more bonus features.

while yes, the UK edition of 'Twister' has stellar DTS-HD MA sound, I still have a problem with the PQ, everyone looks a tad too waxy for my taste.

is this region free confirmed? can anyone confirm that its a worthwhile audio upgrade from the US DD 5.1 lossy track?

Dance with Wolves (UK) - theatrical cut (180 min), not directors cut (223 min)

5/5 PQ (landscape shots are jaw-dropping...every blade of grass is defined with insane clarity)

3/5 AQ (very front heavy, even during action sequences)

Just a few quick comments on this for accuracy - these are Region A discs, not region free, so they are compatible with people in the US but they would not work for people in Europe or Australia with Region B players (or Region C territories either obviously).

And Trainspotting is also available in Japan, and that release has the original opening audio (the US/Canadian release was slightly changed from the original version to make the accents in the opening monologue easier to understand). The Japanese version is much more expensive however, so it's not like the Canadian one is a bad alternative.

Well, Trainspotting UK version, is cheaper of course, got good AQ (DTS 5.0), but is region B locked
