Almost no one has the time, patience, money, experience to get the tru blu experience. It is to powerful to be captured by mere mortals like us. But I am happy with my little, humble set up, that is till I have the money to take the next step up.

Still using my PC 5.1 speakers and 24" monitor for my Blu-ray experience. Should have a 40"+ HDTV and atleast a Yamaha HTiB next year.

No HTib, spend your money better elsewhere. Buy Cheap. Buy Twice. HT is great you can buy, and use, a piece at a time. Get the TV first.

My thinking was sound but my follow through was poor. 9 years ago, I started with a good AVR and a pair of bookshelves and a sub. I was happy, actually amazed at the bookshelves and AVR on movies and music. TGhought I'd save my pennies and finish shopping in 6 months or more. I only sat still for a week or so, then went out got another pair of bookshelves and a center. The first part of my system blew me away and I was hooked. I was planning on slowly accumulating good gear. Good plan.

Even a low end Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, and my favorite Marantz will be good and will last. A pair of bookshelves from a good brand will also blow away some towers from BestBuy, Sears, Circuit City (RIP) and Fry's and they can be had fro decent prices if you look at the bottom or middle of their lineups.

I am not getting the full experience if the full experience includes 1080p and speakers shouting out DTS-HDMA or DolbyHD.

But the experience I have is better than DVD.

I bought a 32" Toshiba LCD to fit in a video center that was built into the wall in our rented apartment. 32 was the maximum for the hole and I read under 37" 1080p and 720p show no noticable differences. Also I think the store didn't have any 1080p 32" screens. Moved to our first home, now could fit a huge screen. Honestly, I'd rather have a great 32" Toshiba than a crappy 42" ______.

Thought when I bought my PS3 I'd get HD sound, nope. I have 5.1 set up, don't consider 6.1 or 7.1 necessary, but AVR no HDMI and PS3 no analogs. T.S. huh.

Looking at upgrading Blu-ray player to one with analogs and/or AVR to one with HDMI. Then I'll be half way there.

Anyone who isn't getting 5.1 HD sound (from a good setup) and a 1080p picture (from a good screen) is missing out.

The purpose was to see if you think you are getting the BLU experience.

The discussion has changed completely... which is fine... it's a good topic.

After thinking about for a few more seconds, I would say:

I'm enjoying my current blu experience- only realizing improvements (if any) after future upgrades.

So where's the poll selection for people who are having a great experience with the audio and visual potential offered by Blu-ray? It's sorta missing here.
