JUST GOT NEWS THAT BEST BUY WILL STOCK ONKYO NOW in Magnolia Home Theater!! since Circuit city has went under

I've also seen it posted that they will be (possibly) carrying Control 4, Audioquest, Monitor Audio, and Sonus Faber. I don't know if any of that is verified or not yet though.

Unless you've had dealings with Best Buys parent company Future Shop in Canada there's no way you could possibly understand.

I am very confused on why you will not want your speakers JUST because a certain seller sells them. This clearly makes no sense? Will they sound worse once Magnolia sells them?

I'm not surprised it sounds like most people on this site can now make a 1 stop shop and pick up there Polk speakers and Onkyo receiver, i think the head buyer from BB has been monitoring this site

Part of the pride in owning a Monitor Audio product is not owning a big box store product. You can think me as foolish as you want but my overall experiences with this company have left a bad taste..

I can relate. Whenever. Speaker company goes away from what got them there. Quality control, craftsmanship, reputation, service, all this goes down the tube when they go mainstream or mass produced. It happened to Klisch and Polk, so what would make MA's any different?

Its called "Sellin Out" this is very similar to. Band that has a distinct style and loses it to cater to the masses. One that pops into mind is Metallica. Master of puppets and Ride the lghtning were 2 records that defined them, then they started to get away from this with the Black album. They have never been the same since.
I'd guess the majority of the purists who are in the "know" share this same ideallogy.

There is a difference.

I understand your point about degrading quality, and I hope that won't be the case with MA, IF the rumor is even true that their speakers will become available at BB Magnolia. However, I also wonder in this difficult economy, with many smaller specialty shops going out of business, if this isn't a wise move on their part to ensure their own survival as a business. Again, IF that's the case, would you rather they sold their speakers at BB, or be gone forever? Just a thought.

Why? The salesman just did to you what it takes to feed his family. Your MA's are beautiful and solid performers! I figured Sonus Faber would go to Magnolia because of VA (and Viennas are still good - nothing changed there). Now what will happen is as Mass market stores sell upscale - the high end stores, knowing that they can't compete price wise, will drop a brand name and pick up the closest specialty competitor (I've seen it done - when Polk and Velodyne came to Circuit City in '95, we dropped them like a hot potato and picked up Kef, Klipsch, made Paradigm our major subwoofer brand).

Well...REL, VA and sonus faber are there because of Sumiko Audio. Infact, I even saw Pro-ject TTs from that ad a few months back. CK is probably glad by now that he got rid of his Pro-ject TT

Magnolia Home Theater use to sell Audioquest but had stopped carrying because supposedly Audioquest couldn't keep up with the demand. I bought some Audioquest cables from Magnolia HT about 3-4 years ago.
