It’s Amazon…Bezos sets on MGM like a suppository clenching with all his might. He doesn’t seem to care about the property or any catalogue releases for that matter…think he only bought MGM for streaming on his Streaming channel wish someone would take out his Monopoly, the guy has the biggest Monopoly in the U.S… has a News Paper, grocery stores, sells everything on Amazon. He’s a menace to the free market.

As long as they keep licensing films to boutiques, Bezos can be named the Supreme Leader of the New World Order if they want to. MGM is more stable now than they’ve ever been under Amazon ownership and, with their deep pockets, can thrive even if all they do is exploit their library. MGM has had so many zany owners it’s not even funny

…I’ll give em a free pass if he opens back up the Gate for the next 10-15 years…
Those Underground Military Bunkers are doing nothing besides collecting cobwebs and Reptilian day spas… we need a internationally shot internationally teamed series of high Adventure and Alien combatants to conquer all while keeping a good family oriented friendly humor… now… Who can we cast that can pull off a natural O’Neil or Shepard like leading man performance 22 episodes a year? (10-13 episodes is not enough and we all know Bezos can afford it after The Ring show) if he likes he can name drop his space program in the show.

CAST:
General: Timothy Olyphant
Team: SG-7 or whatever (SG1 cast can cameo)
Lead:
Science officer: Stephanie Leonidas
Archeologist: Doug Jones (can also be multiple aliens)
Muscle: Charlie Heaton or Brian J. Smith or Wes Chatham
Nurse: Lexa Doig
Gate operator: Gary Jones of course
Any New up and coming actors are welcome and yes Brian is in SGU but he is to great a actor to waste… he also would make an exceptional Scott Summers along side a Molly Quinn Phoenix

I am baffled by this film’s 30th anniversary passing and no 4K release considering just how many releases it used to get. I am thankful I still have the 15th anniversary Blu-Ray steelbook seeing as how all releases of this film are out of print and that asking prices on eBay and other markets would be astronomical because of the film’s much deserved popularity.

Is StudioCanal not the owner of the film a part of the Carloco cataloque?

Stargate (often stylized as STARGᐰTE) is a military science fiction media franchise owned by Amazon MGM Studios. It is based on the film directed by Roland Emmerich, which he co-wrote with producer Dean Devlin;
production company StudioCanal owns the rights to the original film.

I stand corrected.
Turns out Studio Canal does in fact have the rights and ability to put out a UHD, new Blu-rays, and DVD… I do not know why they do not put one out.
(Edit) just sent out an email inquiry regarding a possible UHD release. Lets see if they email back

Did they ever reply? It's a crying shame this title has no 4K release.

Which BD is the best? Or are they all the same transfer, just different packaging/extras?

It appears the releases are:

2006 - extended cut only:

2009 - 15th Anniversary Edition - theatrical and extended cuts

2014 - looks like a direct reissue of the 15th Anniversary Edition, but with the Anniversary banners removed from the packaging

Well if we're to believe our eyes and this website, the latest release is on a BD50, so that is probably the best one. But beyond that clue, I got nothing.

That original release had a problem with the subs where you had to access the one that pops up for the Egyptian spoken parts ONLY by using the subtitle button on the remote. That makes the 15th anniversary edition alone the one to get not to mention it has lossless audio where the original only had DTS-HD HR.

This Blu-ray is now older than the movie itself was when it came out.
