Let me start by saying I'm a fan of Star Wars I read the comics and some novels however every time I attempt to watch the original three movies I think I like them a little bit less. I think the last 3 movies episodes 1 -3 are really bad.

I must admit that I was not too crazy about Slumdog Millioinaire. I thought the movie was good; but 8 academy awards no way! The Godfather trilogy did not win that many and I found those movies to be far superior. Myabe it was just had too much hype.

And then the old argument just get started once again, what would one expect in a thread like this?

But to be fair, not everyone dislike The Godfather in order to sound cool. For me personaly it's one of these movies that just would never work. The subject to start with won't attract me, cannot get into gangster movies. Then none of the actors in the movie are favorite of mine, far from it. Then had the fact that I am not a fan at all of the way Coppola make his movies. This movie starts with three huge strikes right from the start. So I've seen it (because of the status it got as a movie) but it will never be a movie I will wish to see again nor ever like.

Sin City. For whatever reason, I cannot get into it. I just felt violent and over the top for the sole reason of being violent and over the top. Meh.

I have a tough time with 2001 also. First, to me the film seemed to move at a slower pace than the actual novel--which is unique. I certainly understand what Kubrick was going for--to make space travel seem arduous and isolating--and maybe it's just my modern conditioning as a film-viewer, but I really thought a solid 20 minutes could have been cut from the movie: the multiple, long shots of Discovery flying by (which were parodied in the opening of Spaceballs), the all-too frequent close-ups of Hal's red eye, and so forth.

Of course, it's hard to put myself in the shoes of a 1968 viewer (a bit before my time), and maybe that has something to do with it. For me though, when Kubrick focuses on every single detail with equal focus and pace, the whole product leaves me feeling neutral about everything I just watched.

Not bashing the movie. It's one of those I just regard from afar.

I'd have to go with the LOTR trilogy. My opinions don't usually clash so strongly with conventional wisdom but I just found these movies to be incredibly boring. I have a great appreciation for the vision and direction of Peter Jackson, though, as I'm sure these movies were some of cinema's all time most taxing projects.

I'm the same way. I too want to like it, I just can't. Although I love the transition in the beginning, I was pretty bored with the movie.

I remember I went to the movies and saw Episode 3 the one where Anakin becomes Vader and I thought it was the best of the new movies. Then I went to go see Batman Begins. I was blown away when I saw the new Batman movie and I actually got a little upset with George Lucas. I couldn’t understand why Batman Begins to me seemed to be such a better movie when I really wanted the Star Wars movie to be great. But the original 3 I think are way better than the last three. (FYI I’m a Batman fan boy)

I get why people say that, I can see why many people are turn off a bit with the prequels, got a few ideas on why that is but I don't want to get destroyed so I will keep quiet

Batman Begins was a awsome movie, that is what Batman is all about. I felt the story moved and was more interesting than TDK IMO

Let's not try to assume what someone's motivation is. If a person doesn't like the Godfather, he doesn't like the Godfather. No big deal. I agree that it's a much better movie than those others you mention, but people like different things. We all have examples of popular or critically acclaimed movies that we don't like. The purpose of this thread is for people to air just such movies.

Agreed I thought TDK was a bit much some times it seems to be too ambitious. TDK was a good movie and the Joker I thought was excellent. To me Batman Begins is superior, the story telling was excellent.
