Very nice, John! I love the Totems! I'm a fan of 2 channel myself, although I dumped my 2 ch amps about 10 years ago after buying into AVR/HT and wanted to scale down my equipment (I got married ). I really started missing pure 2 channel a couple of years ago and after a recent upgrade trying to marry the 2 together, I've decided I'll be adding a dedicated 2 channel setup in my loft next Spring. Topping that list will be Magenpan 1.6s with the crossover mod (unless I change my mind before then). Not sure what I'll be using for amplification yet. Good news is, I already have wife appoval!

You can tell if you have the Cisco release of FBR: their's is on three 45-RPM records in a fancy blue box. The Hunter is a great album; my favourite from it is a track called "Way Down Deep".

Talk about a "ticket to ride"! Fantastic news! The Maggies certainly are a fine, fine, fine speaker and highly prized I believe. I hope you've got room in your loft!!!!!

Then for sure it's NOT that release. I really do need to get me some 45RPM releases. It's a tough choice as there are so many great ones around. Been listening to Kind of Blue on CD (I know, not terrific), but it's been a refreshing change. Almost forgot how special this album really is.

Yes! Plenty of breathing room for them in the loft. I was initially going to pick them up for my main room even knowing they wouldn't have sufficient breathing room there. Luckily it did not pass WAF (aesthetics) and I ended up taking a different route (Rocket 850s which I just love). However, it was after the fact that my wife said that the "big speakers" (the 1.6s) would be fine for the loft... to which I replied, "Now you tell me." She then said, "well, go ahead!" So at the moment that's the plan for next Spring.

Today is the day I find out about the working status of my TT's. For those of you who have followed my posts in other threads you'll remember that I thought my REVOLVER RED was dead. As such, I bought a second unit, the REVOLVER BLACK, and it is experiencing the same problem.

The problem with both TT's is that they will not come to proper speed, although the seller of the recently purchased REVOLVER BLACK assured me it was in 100% working order. If this is in fact true, then I believe I have an issue with my electrical. As such, I am taking both TT's to a friend's place today and hopefully doing so will give me an answer.

If it does turn out to be the electrical in my apartment, I will have to contact the building sup and have him take a look.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Yeah i have electrical issues in my bedroom. If you look at my gallery, you see the picture of the game sytems on the bottom rack and the outlet behind them. That is the only plug i have that supplies a steady current. the other 4 plugs all short out after about three things get plugged in. Its fustrating

Thanks guys!

I really want to get this resolved as I'm having some serious vinyl withdrawl symptoms. I've got my fave standby recordings plus some 40 sealed LP's that are itching to be cued up!

John,

This has been dragging out way too long. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that the problem is solved and you will have at least one working turntable in short order.

Default It's NOT an electrical issue!

Which means I'm kinda back to square one, but in a way I'm not totally disappointed by it if you can understand that.

After looking at both TT's and inspecting them closely, cleaning every possible part that could be cleaned and trying it again, both TT's suffer from the same slowness in speed. Henry, my buddy, kept going back to inspecting the belts and commenting that it seemed rather loose and felt they should be tighter. They are brand new belts I told him. Weird we both thought.

In his opinion he said there was nothing wrong with either motor assembly as the capstan (the pulley that moves the belt) was spinning properly in his opinion. After talking about it some more we narrowed it down to 2 possible issues. One, the belts are defective or LPgear send me the wrong ones) and second, the spindle mechanism. Maybe it needs additional lubrication as it's possible their is some drag happening. We both didn't feel this was the case, but also didn't negate the possibility.

So this is what I'm going to do. I'll be ordering some more belts from LPgear and I'll make sure they know that they may have sent me the wrong ones last time. If that doesn't solve the issue, Henry knows a fellow who's been doing audio repair for many years and we'll take it to him for a detailed inspection.

It looks like it'll be a few more weeks before anything else happens. In the meantime I'll make due with my SA-CD's and soon to be received Beatles Mono and Stereo Remaster releases.

John

PS~ Are you guys getting as tired with all of this as I am? Oh well, what's a few more weeks.

Hi John,

Why are you purchasing parts for the TT? Didn't you just get the Black Revolver TT a few months back, so it should still be under warranty right?

Hey Rhett!

Yes I did, but I bought it used. They haven't made REVOLVER turntables in over 25 years. The new owners (and there have been several) do now have a new TT, but it's around $4,000.

Thanks dB!

I've never ever had any problems with my TT until this year. Not being able to play vinyl is very disappointing, but it's all good. I discovered the really nice quality of SA-CD, and although not a replacement.....I really do have a whole new appreciation for digital when done correctly. This would never have happened before. So you see...sometimes good things happen when you least expect them to.
