I think, like me, he has no idea what you're saying.

I believe I made that quite clear in my post from the other day.

Calm down? I promise you, I'm not excited by any means. It's just hard for me to read your posts with the unnecessary ellipses.

I agree it all boils down the almighty dollar. But that's not always a bad thing.

perhaps it is a bad thing . theres an issue here of sensitivity and correctness.
if best buy and barnes and noble and fye are all suddenly trying to make this week's gross a little bigger with the death of mr. swayze, then that does not do his image much good . . . .true he's a heavyweight but please let's just wait a little while till we're deluged with P.S. buying advice.

"get em while their still cryin'" (nice work ethic, dont you think?)

WOW you guys!!! OK so I went into a corner here.

God Almighty!! I just woke up . . and my water is just now boiling for my pasta dinner.

stop yelling at me. I just think we should let ( just died) actors rest awhile before we have 3/$10 Patrick Swayze DVD sales at Wal-mart.

next topic!!!

Let's keep the discussion of dead people off blu-ray.com, please . .

Question: why is it that selling movies he was in is offensive after he's dead, but it's not offensive to his image while he was alive? If they're good for his image in his life, they should be just as good for his image in death.

I don't necessarily mind if someone made good stuff (a movie, an album, whatever), and it's simply being sold in a way to make it easier for people to find. Play.com might just be making it easy for people who were looking for those movies to find them. Maybe they didn't remember names of certain ones, who knows.

But I doubt anyone that wandered over to Play.com, with no intention of buying any Patrick Swayze movies, would see the banner and go "Oh yeah, I forgot he just died. I should buy one of his movies." So if they're doing it simply to try to profit off of his death, I'm not sure how well that works.

What I DO find annoying is when people start selling anything to make money off of someone's death. I was at a major-chain store, that mainly sells clothes, and they had rack after rack of Michael Jackson themed t-shirts. These things didn't even exist a few months ago. I'm sure someone out there was selling MJ underwear, MJ ash trays, etc.

I know there's the whole "vote with your wallet thing" but that doesn't matter. I don't care whether they sell or not, I care that they're being made in the first place. They're made so cheaply that even if they don't sell, I don't think it'd stop these same companies from trying again with the next celebrity death, hoping maybe that one works out better.

The thing I hate is when family members or other hanger's on use someone's death for profit. "Coming up an interview with Latoya Jackson where she tells of the horrible loss of her beloved brother, followed by the new single she recorded in his name and is now available on itunes." My guess is there's a special place in hell for people like this. I know that isn't exactly the theme of the thread, but I wanted to put my two cents in anyway.
